I Joined the Volleyball Club to Draw Manga!

Inarizaki's annual volleyball club recruitment brings in several interesting newcomers.

There are twins who look alike but seem to have very different personalities, a listless middle blocker specially recruited by the coach, and then there's this one: tall and slender, leaning against the wall every day and staring at the court as if lost in thought.

The twins and the middle blocker are convinced he has a secret.

The three of them sneak off to eavesdrop on his conversation with the coach, and hear him say, "I joined the volleyball club to draw manga."

The three of them are stunned. "Draw what??"

You joined the volleyball club to draw what???

-

Just after Iori Akatsuki made the list of the year's most anticipated young manga artists, he hit a wall with his new series. Every time he tried drawing a long story, it fell apart, and no matter how long he tried, he couldn't break through.

His editor quietly offered some advice: "Aren't you starting high school? Draw a sports manga! It's a bit niche, but it's the hardest genre to mess up. As long as nobody dies, you're fine!"

Iori Akatsuki: "Yeah, you're right. That makes sense."

For research, he joined Inarizaki's famous volleyball team.

Some time later, he looked at his draft...

"..."

Had his editor forgotten that he drew battle manga?

-

Inarizaki's volleyball team made it to the national tournament again this year.

At the tournament, several first-year newcomers muttered to each other as they watched the court.

"That's the Flashing Spirit Guard, right? That receiving motion looks just like..."

"And that's the Frozen Ball Net! I've seen this episode!"

When Ushijima served, a certain pair of twins shouted:

"That's gotta be the Infernal Ultimate Domain Annihilating Dragon God Thousand-Demon Slash Invincible Serve!!!"

"The final boss has appeared!!"

Wakatoshi Ushijima: "..."

Everyone else: "..."

What are you even doing here? Can somebody please control them!!

-

Nobody can control them, because Kita isn't captain yet, lol.

He's in the same year as the Miya twins and Suna.

Please support our stoic, adorable middle blocker!

I'll start posting after I finish the bonus chapter in May. I'll add the rest when I think of it.

Theme: No awkwardness, only tormenting the characters.
