Xue Rong is a timid, soft-hearted wolf demon. After three months of working in the city, she ends up homeless.
With nowhere else to go, she reluctantly takes a job at a paranormal affairs agency, where she is responsible for communicating with demons. But she is the only demon in the entire company, and if anyone discovers what she is, let alone sees her terrifying true form, she'll be driven out of the city.
So Xue Rong spends her days at the office on tenterhooks, hiding her identity. Unfortunately, her boss is a shepherd, the wolf's natural enemy: cold and merciless, she constantly finds fault with Xue Rong.
She frowns whenever she sees her, and sends back every report. Whenever Duan Fei so much as looks at her, Xue Rong's tail puffs up.
If they weren't short-staffed, Xue Rong has no doubt Duan Fei would have fired her on the spot.
Everyone at the company knows that Manager Duan can't stand the new hire, but no one knows that Xue Rong has to go home with Duan Fei every day.
After going bankrupt and being unable to pay rent, she turned herself into a kitten barely a month old and sat by the roadside, hoping someone would take her in.
As luck would have it, the person who stopped in front of her was Duan Fei. Her cold, sharp gaze made Xue Rong freeze in place.
Xue Rong tried to run, but the next second Duan Fei scooped her up into her arms.
By day, Xue Rong avoids Duan Fei.
At night, Duan Fei holds her while they sleep.
By day, Duan Fei docks her performance bonus.
At night, Duan Fei gives her extra food.
And so the two "strangers," who can't stand each other at work, begin a secret life together.
In the morning, Duan Fei leaves for work, and Xue Rong pretends she's just arrived, entering the office from another direction.
They meet in the elevator and nod without expression. "Morning."
No one knows they slept in the same bed last night.
After working late into the night, Duan Fei drowsily pulls Xue Rong into bed and mutters,
"Little wolf... always sneaking away from me."
Xue Rong's whole cat body puffs up like a dandelion.

Duan Fei: I've started raising a cat.
Doctor: ? Aren't you allergic to cat hair? And didn't you say cats aren't as loyal as dogs?
Duan Fei: Oh, I'm not allergic to this one.
Doctor: ?
Duan Fei: And it wags its tail like a dog, too. (Video of tail wagging in circles)
Doctor: ?????
Message: Every dog deserves a home.
