A taciturn, long-suffering painter gong × a gentle, refined immortal shou
Pei Qingli × Chang Jin
1v1, with both male leads pretending to be someone they’re not
A love story between a mortal and an immortal
When Chang Jin, an immortal who had been sleeping inside a painting, sensed that the evil energy plaguing the human world was about to return, he woke from the painting.
He discovered that the ancient painting he had lived in for so long was now battered and tattered, its ink marks almost impossible to make out.
After thinking it over, he decided to enter the mortal world and find the painter who had once created it, so the man could help restore it.
What he didn’t know was that while he slept inside the painting, eight hundred years had passed in the human world, and the painter who made it was long dead.
Chang Jin thought about it briefly, then decided to find the man’s descendants instead.
That descendant was Pei Qingli. When Chang Jin found him, Pei Qingli was setting up a stall on the street.
Pei Qingli: Wait, do you even know what I do? Why come to me?
Chang Jin: You’re a painter.
Pei Qingli: Yes, that’s right, but I draw picture books!
Picture books are paintings, and ink wash paintings are paintings, too. Chang Jin thought it over for two seconds, then decided to entrust Pei Qingli with restoring the painting.
Pei Qingli got worked up and revealed the evil energy inside him.
Chang Jin instantly switched to his battle face and grew wary.
Pei Qingli: No, I’m not! Let me explain, I was still a kid back then…
After Chang Jin discovered the evil energy inside Pei Qingli, the two struck a deal.
Chang Jin would draw out the evil energy inside Pei Qingli from time to time until it was completely gone.
Pei Qingli would accompany Chang Jin on a journey to find materials for repairing the ancient painting, and restore it along the way.
And so began their journey through four cities: searching for painting materials while eradicating the evil energy in the world.
They set off on the road to save all living beings, never to return…
To Pei Qingli, their journey through the four cities meant finding some ink and pigments, picking up a few painting supplies, and handling a few things along the way.
To Chang Jin, it meant finding ancient paintings sealed with evil energy, teaching Pei Qingli a few immortal arts, and sealing away some evil energy while they were at it.
Though the two had different motives, they were heading toward the same goal.
They also kept up a few pretenses about their pasts, each with secrets of their own.
And amid all the deception, they searched for a little sincerity.
P.S. The gong has immortal blood and a long lifespan.
