Youji was pulled from the river in the seventh year after her death.
The man who fished her out said his name was A Zhi.
A Zhi was handsome and gentle, always smiling.
So Youji chose to trust him.
A Zhi said no one else could find out she had come back from the dead, or she would be taken to a research institute.
The safest place for her was by his side.
Youji nodded and obediently moved into his house.
A Zhi treated her well. Every day, he prepared lavish meals for her and styled her hair in all sorts of ways.
Her wardrobe was even filled with clothes and jewelry she liked.
But A Zhi had plenty of rules, too. The first was that she had to remember that he was the person she loved most.
The second was that she could not go out whenever she pleased, especially not near the five tall, dark buildings.
Youji lifted her trapped foot and asked, bewildered, “A Zhi, is this necessary too?”
The next moment, A Zhi pulled her into his arms and gently stroked her hair. “Of course. It's all to protect you.”
His voice was bewitching. “Youji, be good.”
Life was peaceful and warm like this, except for the sound of A Zhi breathing beside her in the middle of every night.
Until one day, she accidentally stepped beyond the forbidden area. A strange man stopped her and grabbed her by the shoulders. “Youji, I've finally found you!”
Just as she was about to turn and run, she collided with a familiar embrace.
She looked up and met A Zhi's smiling face.
He gently clasped her fingers and politely stated a fact to the man before them. “Mr. Mori, you should call her Mrs. Dazai.”
“After all, she is my wife.”
The man's anger surged. “Dazai, you know very well that she is mine...”
A Zhi cut him off with a smile. “Not anymore.”

Youji asked A Zhi, “Who exactly is Mr. Mori?”
A Zhi rested his lips against her neck. “Just a loser.”
Youji clutched the hem of her clothes, beginning to doubt everything.
Who was she? Whose wife was she? And who had killed her?
The pain in her neck brought her back to her senses. A Zhi turned his head away. “If Youji remembers everything... I'll be in a difficult position.”
So forget.
Just remember that she belongs to him alone.
Reading Guide
1. OOC is my responsibility; the characters belong to everyone.
2. The male lead is the later-arriving, up-and-coming Boss Dazai.
3. At its heart, this is a story built around my personal kinks: “the dead first love returns,” “What do you mean, your wife? She's obviously my wife,” and “You're old now. It's time to make way for the young.”
6. There are secrets surrounding the heroine's death and identity. Dazai never defected, and Oda Sakunosuke is alive. Unless something unexpected happens, there will be no Armed Detective Agency content. Ranpo appears, but as a dark version of himself.
