Monologue of an Impractical Person

Li Chiyang is 25 years old. His job is unstable, his income is average, and he has never been in a relationship. His parents have pressured him into going on a few blind dates, but none of them went anywhere.

His parents looked at their tall, handsome son and fell into deep thought, unable to figure out what had gone wrong.

After asking around, they finally learned what their son was like on blind dates:

- Blind date: "What kind of person are you in everyday life?"

- Li Chiyang: "Anxious, prone to overthinking, sensitive, fragile, timid, afraid of dying, a procrastinator, a quitter, impulsive, a night owl, easily crushed, given to catastrophic thinking, unable to handle even a little pressure, and... everyone says I'm unrealistic." Specifically, I have no money and no time, but I want to travel around the world.

His parents understood: So the problem was his personality.

His anxiety was getting worse, and the doctor advised him to get out and do something to take his mind off it.

So Li Chiyang chose Tromso as his destination. Naively, he thought the polar night and its ice and snow would freeze his overthinking solid. Since he could never get enough time off, he decided to go all in and submit his resignation.

As it turned out, impulsiveness was the devil. After quitting without another job lined up, his visa application was rejected.

Li Chiyang was crouched outside the visa center, contemplating his life, when someone suddenly patted him on the shoulder. He looked up and saw Jiang Dai, his high school desk mate whom he hadn't seen in years.

After hearing about his misfortunes, Jiang Dai raised the camera in his hand and said with a smile, "I'm going to Murmansk to photograph the aurora. Want to come with me?"

Li Chiyang wasn't good at turning people down. After agonizing over it for ages, he impulsively nodded.

Two months later, Li Chiyang stood in front of his parents, holding Jiang Dai's hand. As it turned out, impulsiveness... could lead to love.

His parents were enlightened: So the problem was his sexual orientation!
