Time could no longer fast-forward or skip ahead, and survival became his top priority. His magic was suppressed in this world, so he needed to eat. The souls being nurtured in his demon core needed food, too.

On the first day of the Detective Conan timeline, the moon was sinking in the sky.

Yue Wu was dizzy with hunger, staggering down the road in a residential complex. At last, he bumped right into the feet of a man in gray trousers.

His trembling paws clung to the man's leg. “Meow...” (I'm starving to death.)

The man crouched down, and under the streetlights, Yue Wu got a good look at his face.

Meow?

His fur stood on end.

Golden hair, dark skin. Wasn't this the insanely twisted, invincible bad guy he'd seen while saving the undercover agent?

Will of the world, help! There's a bad guy!

Waaah, I'm doomed!

But the bad guy didn't eat him. He took him home, didn't mind his huge appetite, and gave him delicious food and a comfortable place to sleep every day.

Ragdolls are naturally affectionate. Once Yue Wu realized his human wasn't entirely bad, he spent all day pressing against him, licking him, hugging him, and sticking close. Every so often, when his human went out on a mission as Bourbon, Yue Wu would secretly lend a little “help.”

Until the will of the world showed up again: Hey, could you do something about the plot...?

At its urging, Yue Wu found the heir to the Red Magic and recovered some of his powers. An introduction also got him an accomplice: Kaito Kid.

Every now and then, one or two of the souls in his demon core could wake up and help him carry out his plans. For some reason, though, they all looked utterly conflicted whenever they saw his human.

From then on, Yue Wu stuck to Bourbon when nothing was going on, and went to Kid when he needed help.

They came up with a plan like no other: pretend to be gods!

The manga's villainous organization boss wanted immortality. What could live longer than a demon? Every once in a while, they could turn someone into a cat and put on a little divine display.

Fool the boss, descend upon the boss, and finally take the boss's place!

Of course, a few things went wrong along the way.

At home, Yue Wu was an innocent, clueless little cat. At night, he especially loved crawling into his human's bed to sleep beside him.

Rei Furuya was used to sleeping naked at home. Later, even after he got a Ragdoll cat who loved snuggling in bed, he never changed the habit.

After all, it was only a cat who didn't understand anything.

One night, the sensation beside him felt a little off.

Rei Furuya woke instantly and reached for the gun by his pillow. But the sight that met his eyes made his breath catch.

A beautiful, long-haired person with snow-white skin and blue eyes stared at him innocently, naked and looking utterly dependent on him.

Most importantly, a pair of dark brown cat ears perched on his head, twitching every so often. When he snuggled up to Rei and buried his face in his neck, a tail of lighter fur casually draped across the wrist of Rei's gun hand.
