Expiration Date

Xie Wei lightly wiped away a fine sheen of sweat. In September, B City was still in the grip of the autumn heat. The plane-tree leaves had only just turned a pale gold, sticking to the scorching asphalt. Whenever the wind blew, it stirred up the city's hot, restless bustle.

The start of the school year at B University was always a grand affair. Traffic and crowds filled the campus's main avenue, and the newcomers' awkward exuberance mingled with the older students' easy familiarity, creating the university's most vivid picture of early autumn.

With a worn black backpack on his shoulders and his newly issued architecture student ID clutched in his hand, Xie Wei stood before the imposing faculty building and lifted his eyes to the clear blue sky.

The eighteen-year-old was lean and stood so straight it seemed almost stubborn, a perfect reflection of his personality!

His fair skin was pale from years spent indoors, away from the sun. His jawline was sharp and taut, and his clean-cut features were veiled by an unshakable chill. Long lashes fell over his eyes, hiding every emotion and leaving only an air of aloofness that warned others to keep their distance.
