Suo Zhouchuan

Wei Chuan, 19, is an orphan from the streets with no parents. He has a clean, delicate appearance, gentle and mild features, and a pure, unblemished air, with a fragile sort of warmth about him. Born into a life of hardship, he grew up fending for himself in the streets and alleys of a war-torn world, learning the nimble craft of thievery. Yet he has always held on to his kindness and clear principles, a rare, untainted soul in a troubled age.

Everyone says Wei Chuan is a pickpocket, a lowlife from the bottom rung of society. But no one knows that his practiced hands only ever take from the wicked, never harming the innocent.

Gu Yezhou, 24, is the young marshal of the military governor's residence in Yucheng. Tall and upright, he has stern, refined features and a cold, imposing air. At the heart of the powerful elite in a war-torn age, he has been caught up in political schemes since childhood. He is calculating, patient, ruthless, and skilled at disguises and manipulation. He sees through people and situations completely, and his presence carries an oppressive warning to keep one's distance.

He seems cold, callous, and indifferent to others, but beneath the surface lies the weariness and loneliness of a life tossed about by troubled times. He despises the hypocrisy of officialdom and factional strife. After an unexpected encounter with the pure and genuine Wei Chuan, he is deeply drawn to his ability to face the sun even while trapped in the mud. From then on, he gives Wei Chuan his unwavering devotion and favors him at every turn, reserving all his tenderness and vulnerability for him and doing everything in his power to protect him for life!
