Feiopan never expected that even after his mother had married into a powerful family, she still wouldn't be satisfied.
The wealthy merchant's heir had long since been decided, and Feiopan had absolutely no chance.
But that madwoman had heard somewhere that the heir, young master Dottore, had no interest in women and was exceptionally chaste.
So, on the day he came of age at eighteen, he was forced to drink honey water laced with drugs. With his body wracked and overwhelmed by pheromone dysregulation, he was sent into Dottore's room.
Feiopan huddled in a corner. Hearing someone approach, he stubbornly raised his head. His eyes shimmered with tears, but he still forced a smile.
"Brother," he said, "could we make a deal?"
The omega's pheromones drifted through the air, sweet as roses.
The person before him didn't answer.
Silence spread like stagnant water. Against it, his attempt to show weakness seemed even more like a joke.
Feiopan resigned himself and closed his eyes.
His mother didn't know that the rumors about this young master included far more than his lack of interest in women. There were darker, more terrifying stories, too.
Now, he was about to become one of them.
Dottore hadn't felt much of anything for this stepbrother of his, but that night had been far too interesting.
Whether it was the pale face of the person pushed into his room, the negotiation after he suppressed his fear, or the desperate closing of his eyes at the end, it was all hard to look away from.
A talent needed to be nurtured, so Dottore began paying attention to him, indulging him as the flower gradually blossomed into something full-grown, radiant, and opulent.
Later, even Dottore became part of the nourishment.
"Brother, you love me, don't you?"
His rose smiled at him. In the midst of this test, Dottore only looked back at him, neither confirming nor denying it.
He had already lost.
