Marriage first, love later | Rivals to lovers | Both virgins | A little background romance later on
Country bumpkin, spoiled, silly bottom x sharp-tongued at first, then crazy and delusional top
Lin Xiaoyu was the prettiest Omega in the village, and also the silliest and most spoiled.
The neighbor aunties all shook their heads. “How's this kid going to manage without his big brother?”
So he followed his childhood friend to the city.
His childhood friend was the most important person in Lin Xiaoyu's life. He had no grand ambitions and thought that spending his whole life with his friend would be just fine.
Until one day, a man showed up at their rented apartment.
He wore gold-rimmed glasses and a white shirt, and when he smiled, he looked like a sanctimonious fox.
He glanced at Lin Xiaoyu, squatting on the floor and snapping the ends off green beans, and smiled leisurely. “Rural Omegas really are different. Even their pheromones smell like grass.”
Lin Xiaoyu was so angry he flung the beans all over the floor. “Who are you?”
The man looked him over as if he were a defective product. “What a pity. That pretty face is wasted on someone so uncouth.”
His childhood friend smiled awkwardly beside him. “Xiaoyu hasn't seen much of the world and doesn't know any better. Please don't take offense.”
Back then, Lin Xiaoyu couldn't hear the disdain in his childhood friend's words.
He foolishly offered his whole heart to him.
Bai Siyan was an oddity among Alphas. He hated the way pheromones ruled everything, and he hated Omegas who were as weak as climbing vines.
Lin Xiaoyu checked every single box on his list of things he despised.
So Bai Siyan thought terribly of him.
Crude, stupid, and bad-tempered, he survived in Haicheng only because of his pretty face and his childhood friend's small kindness.
Nothing but a useless pretty ornament.
They couldn't stand the sight of each other, and whenever the rivals met, sparks flew.
Then fate played an enormous joke on them.
Lin Xiaoyu's first heat came without warning.
His childhood friend wasn't there.
Burning with fever and barely conscious, Lin Xiaoyu was scooped up in someone's arms.
He cried and burrowed into that person's embrace, calling out hoarsely, “Big brother.”
A soft chuckle came from beside his ear. “Who are you calling? Look carefully. It's me.”
But Lin Xiaoyu had no reason left in him.
All he knew was that the scent drove him wild with desire. He wanted it, wanted more.
A permanent marking, followed by a forced marriage.
Lin Xiaoyu thought Bai Siyan would hate him for the accident.
He started acting out, waiting for the man to get fed up and kick him out.
But once, twice, three times... The man who used to be cruel to the core endured it all. He even started indulging Lin Xiaoyu, treating him better than his childhood friend ever had.
Then, late one night, Lin Xiaoyu heard Bai Siyan speaking gently on the phone outside the villa. “Don't worry. I'll take care of it for you.”
Lin Xiaoyu knew his childhood friend was on the other end.
He crouched in the entryway, tears falling onto the back of his hand.
He knew he had been unnecessary from the very beginning.
Bai Siyan had arranged his childhood friend's job and cleaned up his messes. He even answered his late-night calls so gently.
And Lin Xiaoyu was nothing but a burden Bai Siyan couldn't get rid of after an accident.
Lin Xiaoyu touched his belly. A tiny life had just been conceived inside him.
He was afraid Bai Siyan would say the baby wasn't part of the plan, and make him get rid of it.
Lin Xiaoyu thought that this little baby was the only one who belonged entirely to him.
So the next day, he downloaded a divorce agreement online and signed his name, stroke by stroke.
Then he bought a train ticket and ran away.
