Rong Huai was never very bright. Apart from his exceptionally beautiful face, his obedient nature was the only thing about him that was agreeable.
His older sister looked after him when he was young. Once she married, he was left all on his own.
His sister fretted, "You should find someone to take care of you. I don't ask for anything else, just someone patient with you."
Rong Huai nodded, only half understanding.
One night, while picking flowers outside a newly opened secret realm, he came across a handsome cultivator badly wounded beside a stream.
Rong Huai stared blankly at his face, then suddenly smacked his forehead. A simple thought came to him: Couldn't this man be his husband?
So when the sword cultivator woke and said he couldn't remember anything from his past, Rong Huai said guiltily, "...We're cultivation partners."
.
Feng Jue was a model cultivation partner.
He was endlessly patient with Rong Huai and kept everything in perfect order. Apart from when it came to that sort of thing... He always went too far and left Rong Huai crying with a hoarse voice, which was awful. Other than that, Rong Huai thought he was perfect.
Their life together was blissful, until their mountain home was destroyed by a powerful cultivator and they had to find somewhere else to live.
On the way down the mountain, Rong Huai heard that the world-destroying demon was missing and might be hiding somewhere in the cultivation world. He leaned in to look at the wanted poster and jumped in fright.
It was identical to his husband's face!
How strange! His husband was so kind. He definitely couldn't be the world-destroying demon.
Rong Huai was absolutely certain.
But one night, he woke to find bodies strewn around Feng Jue. A cultivator who was still breathing cried, "The demon must die--"
His husband merely wiped his sword with lazy ease, his eyes gleaming crimson.
Rong Huai was terrified. After that, nightmares plagued him. He feared Feng Jue would recover his memories and kill him when he discovered Rong Huai was a fraud.
He had no choice but to make plans. Gathering his courage, he sent Feng Jue away and ran off himself.
He returned to his older sister, listening as the world-destroying demon appeared and searched the cultivation world high and low for someone, speaking with vicious cruelty.
He trembled with fear, even more determined not to show his face.
Then his sister was promoted to sect leader and invited to attend the alliance leader's birthday celebration. Rong Huai was brought along.
By then, Feng Jue had stopped searching for him.
Rong Huai thought Feng Jue had forgotten him and wouldn't want anything to do with the Immortal Alliance.
He was wrong on both counts.
Instead, in a seat no one had invited him to, he saw a memorial tablet displayed with great fanfare: "Wife of the Demon."
Rong Huai, whose name and appearance were identical to those on the tablet: "..."
He fled in panic, only to be caught around the waist by a strong arm and held fast.
Feng Jue's voice was amused as he leaned close to Rong Huai's ear, his tone utterly chilling.
"Caught you."
With a sigh that sounded almost like hatred, he spoke each word through clenched teeth:
"...Liar."
"Cute, clueless bottom x seemingly devoted husband, actually wicked top"
Before you read:
1. The top never loses his memory at any point. (Note: He has a truly awful personality and is not a good person. He only restrains himself around the bottom.)
2. The bottom isn't stupid, just very slow on the uptake and not especially sharp. He's adorable and beautiful, but not a genius. If that's not your thing, please stop reading early.
