Qi Luo was a madman. After personally sending his enemy to prison in the modern world, he died suddenly of a heart attack.
When he woke up, he’d transmigrated into someone with the same name, the eldest legitimate son of the current prime minister. Unfortunately, the original owner had a weak constitution and died after catching a chill.
A voice claiming to be the System told him his mission was to turn the future tyrant into a wise ruler.
“Once the Host completes the mission, you can return to your original world.”
“What would I go back for?”
“Turning the tyrant into a wise ruler could save many people.”
Qi Luo gave a cold laugh. No one had ever come to save him, and now he was supposed to save others? Wasn’t that ridiculous?
“What does that have to do with me?”
Qi Luo first met the tyrant in a dilapidated, cold palace. He was dressed in a heavy white fox-fur coat, while the future tyrant’s clothes were tattered.
Even so, there was no hiding the ruthlessness in the tyrant’s eyes.
A flicker of admiration for a kindred spirit crossed Qi Luo’s eyes, but only for an instant. He was cold by nature, and his gaze never lingered on anyone unimportant.
Before leaving, he tossed down a dagger and the white fox-fur coat he was wearing.
The tyrant stared at him in a daze, confusion flashing in his eyes.
Qi Luo stepped on the coat without expression. “It’s dirty. I don’t want it anymore.”
After he left, the young tyrant buried his face in the white fur coat. Not to keep warm, but to draw in the lingering fragrance, like a hint of spring amid the snow.
[Bonus scene]
On the day the tyrant ascended the throne, the young emperor clutched Qi Luo’s robe with red-rimmed eyes and pleaded in a low voice, “Teacher, will you please not leave me?”
As if comforting him, Qi Luo patted his head. “All I’ve ever wanted is... a well-behaved dog that only knows how to wag its tail and beg. You’ve always done a very good job.”
The tyrant lifted him into his arms and set him on the dragon throne, the symbol of imperial authority. Then he gathered up his robes and knelt beside him, letting Qi Luo press his boot against his most vulnerable place.
