Mu Congbu x Gu Shiyan, the couple who never break their word~
*
As the new Venerable of the world's foremost sect, Gu Shiyan is aloof, distant, and untouched by worldly concerns. Little does he know that his first trip down to Jiangnan will lead him to save an emperor traveling incognito.
But the emperor clings to him, using repayment for the life-saving favor as an excuse.
Gu Shiyan's beautiful face remains cold. "There's no need to repay me, and no need to give me anything in return."
Mu Congbu, however, doesn't heed a word. He is attentive and caring in every way.
Mu Congbu smiles. "I'm a few years older than you, young sir. Why not call me Sixth Brother?"
Gu Shiyan: "Don't call me young sir. Do it again, and I'll kill you with my own hands."
Mu Congbu: "If you want my life, young sir, I'll gladly offer it with my own hands."
Gu Shiyan thinks to himself, "No wonder he's emperor. He's got a much thicker skin than ordinary people."
This emperor is impossible to shake off, like a plaster stuck to your skin.
Later, the emperor makes him a heartfelt promise: "If you have nowhere else to go, come find me in the capital. I'll wait for you, no matter how long it takes."
Gu Shiyan may know nothing about love, but he knows that in that moment, he was touched.

The emperor Mu Congbu commands the ninefold palace with an imposing presence. But when news comes from Jizhou that Gu Shiyan has died and his soul has passed on, Mu Congbu seems to lose himself entirely.
Like a walking corpse, the emperor's face shows no emotion. Only when he looks at a pale blue handkerchief do his eyes fill with tenderness and memories.
Some clever noblewomen secretly note the handkerchief's design and have similar ones made. One even deliberately shows hers off in front of Mu Congbu alone at a palace banquet.
The emperor flies into a rage.
He says coldly, "Who do you think you are, to use a handkerchief like this?"
That noblewoman is never seen in the capital again.
No one knows where the handkerchief came from, but they all understand that it is the emperor's one taboo.
Only the hidden guards by Mu Congbu's side know that it was a handkerchief Moon Venerable Gu Shiyan casually discarded. The emperor secretly picked it up, washed and starched it himself, and always carries it with him.

A new Duke of Ying's heir appears in the capital. At first, no one pays him any attention, but Mu Congbu gradually recognizes him as the person he loves. Even though he feels a thousand grievances and a thousand resentments toward him, he can't bring himself to take them out on him.
Later, people see the emperor keeping his eyes fixed on the Duke of Ying's heir throughout a palace banquet. A maid accidentally touches the heir's hand, and the emperor's expression darkens at once.
Everyone thinks the maid is doomed. But the jade-like young man parts his lips and calls out, "Tingliao."
That is the emperor's personal name, normally forbidden to speak. And yet, in front of everyone, the emperor's ears turn red. He rises from his throne and walks over, his gaze so tender it seems to overflow.
Mu Congbu brushes the young man's tousled hair from his face. Seeing his cheeks slightly flushed, he says gently, "You've had a little too much to drink."
Gu Shiyan protests, "I'm not drunk." The next moment, he gets dizzy and nearly falls over.
Luckily, Mu Congbu is quick to catch him and scoops him into his arms.
Watching the emperor leave, everyone exchanges bewildered looks. When have they ever seen their emperor act like this?
[Bonus Scene 1]
Later, on the bright yellow imperial bed, Mu Congbu takes his beloved's hand and draws him close against his burning chest, whispering in his ear, "You saved my life, so I should give myself to you. Will you take me, young master?~"
His warm breath brushes Gu Shiyan's earlobe. Gu Shiyan crooks a finger, blindfolds Mu Congbu with red silk, and traces his jade-like fingers over Mu Congbu's collarbone. Then he says, "Is that so? Then Your Majesty had better serve me well. If you're not good at it, I'll find someone else."
[Bonus Scene 2]
Before Gu Shiyan returns to the capital, Martial Venerable Ji Ruoxi reminds him, "If you meet a suitable young lady in the capital, remember to bring her back for your master to meet."
Gu Shiyan laughs softly. "If I marry, I'll marry the person with the highest status in the world."
Who could have a higher status than the emperor? Ji Ruoxi assumes Gu Shiyan is joking and pays no attention.
That is, until Gu Shiyan really does bring Mu Congbu back to Yunliang Qianchi.
Mu Congbu's thoughts: A Yan is taking me home to meet his master! / So happy!
Ji Ruoxi: Who's your master? Get away from me.
Content warning: The political intrigue is simplistic, the prose is amateurish, and everything serves the author's tastes and the romance.
Yan Rong is the only son of Prince Yan. Doted on from childhood, he does as he pleases and is famous throughout the land as a spoiled playboy.
He has one secret he absolutely can't bring himself to admit: he likes men and dreams of finding himself a male heir-consort!
Unfortunately, the disciples of Carefree City are too stiff, the scholars of Jiangnan too delicate, and the men of Yan territory... too dark.
He hears that the noble young gentlemen in the capital are refined and dignified, with extraordinary bearing.
They sound like the perfect candidates for an heir-consort!
Afraid he might miss his chance, the young heir packs his bags in the middle of the night and heads straight for the capital.
**
As luck would have it, he meets a suitable candidate on his very first day in the capital.
The man is tall, learned, and exceptionally handsome. More importantly, he's patient and gentle!
Coming to the capital was the right choice!
The young heir is soon lost in a world of tenderness, living in a blissful haze and completely forgetting about going to the palace to meet the emperor.
And the person in the palace doesn't send anyone to hurry him along, either. Days pass like this.
But can someone please tell him why he's pregnant?!!!
**
The young heir glances at the man sleeping beside him, feeling wronged. It's all his fault!
He immediately decides to teach him a lesson, packs his bags in the middle of the night, and prepares to leave the capital.
Just as he's about to pass through the city gate, palace guards pour out and seal it shut.
The guards line up in two rows, and a man wearing black robes embroidered with a subtle golden dragon pattern walks out between them.
It's the very same "consort" he was just sleeping with.
The man carefully picks him up, lowering his voice as if holding something back. He says gently, "I'll be your consort, and you can be my empress. What do you say?"
