Jian Xingzhou had spent nearly ten years in the entertainment industry, finally clawing his way from the bottom tier to just above it.
Fu Yunqu had been at the helm of the Fu Corporation for nearly ten years, firmly in control and standing at the very top.
Over those ten years, Jian Xingzhou had seen Fu Yunqu in person only a handful of times, and they had spoken face-to-face just twice.
Once, Fu Yunqu asked his name. Once, Fu Yunqu asked for his autograph.
The third time, Jian Xingzhou was kneeling before Fu Yunqu in nothing but a bath towel. Fu Yunqu gripped his chin and asked if he was worth it.
Jian Xingzhou's heart raced out of rhythm, but he answered without hesitation. “I am.”
“Is that so?” Fu Yunqu sneered, leaning back with his legs spread. “Then make me feel you're worth it, too.”

Cold ridicule and rough disregard were all things Jian Xingzhou had brought upon himself and accepted willingly. He never complained.
He knew their relationship had no name and no promise, and that it would end sooner or later. So when he learned Fu Yunqu was about to get engaged, he left of his own accord, trying to preserve at least a little dignity.
But he was dragged back in the most undignified state imaginable and thrown onto the familiar bed in the villa. Fu Yunqu's hand clamped around his throat with enough force to kill him.
“Jian Xingzhou, how dare you?”

Later, people said Fu Yunqu had found a partner, but no one could get any details. Fu Yunqu guarded them fiercely, more fiercely than a wolf guarding its cubs.
All they heard was that anyone who tried to send someone to his side learned a lesson.
They also heard that President Fu, who hadn't attended an awards ceremony in years, watched the entire event from the private seat in the center. When he clapped, a ring on his left ring finger caught the light.
It looked rather like the pendant hanging from the neck of the young Best Actor onstage.
