Shenzawa Haruto: a prince-like handsome guy whose name sounds solemn and dependable, and whose face is gentle and handsome.
A mental-game specialist, nicknamed “The Court’s Superstar,” with a playing style that draws every eye.
When opponents play against him, they tend to lose focus. They can’t concentrate on his technique, and are especially prone to botching their returns.
On paper, Shenzawa Haruto is the perfect male idol.
Unfortunately, he has had a problem since childhood.
He thinks everyone he meets has a crush on him, and firmly believes he is electricity, he is light, he is the one and only legend.
After he started playing tennis, the symptoms got even worse.
Sanada: “You’re too lax!”
Shenzawa Haruto: “Vice-captain, paying too much attention to me will only make you fall deeper. I suggest you keep your distance.”
Yukimura teased, “That’ll be difficult, won’t it? We have club activities every day.”
Shenzawa Haruto: “Even if you, Captain, can’t pull yourself away, you should still keep it under control for the good of the club.”
Yanagi: “...Shenzawa, you...”
Shenzawa Haruto: “Don’t say it. Stalking is unacceptable. When are you going to destroy that notebook?”
*
Everyone at Rikkai was completely exasperated, and tried to keep this problem contained to the school.
But...
Atobe: “Lose yourself in the splendor of my magnificent skills!”
Shenzawa Haruto: “Even if you’re showing off like a peacock for me, I won’t accept you.”
Tezuka: “Stay focused. Give it everything you’ve got.”
Shenzawa Haruto: “So many people want to stand by my side. You’re just one of them.”
Ryoma: “You still have a long way to go.”
Shenzawa Haruto: “Playing hard to get?”
Everyone: “…”
*
As time went by, everyone gradually got used to Shenzawa Haruto’s delusions of being loved, and learned to keep a straight face in response to his outrageous claims.
Only one little seaweed-head was different. Every time, he would vehemently “protest.”
Shenzawa Haruto could only sigh helplessly.
“Fine, I admit it. Your little tricks have caught my attention.”
Synopsis finalized on June 22, 2026.
P.S.:
1. The protagonist is a delusionally self-assured romantic who believes in himself completely, paired with the little seaweed-head. Rikkai has 16+3 characters. As usual, the main story won’t have much romance. Those who like no-romance stories can read it as friendship, if they don’t mind (if you’re particular about this, please skip it). Whether I’ll write a proper romance in the extras is undecided;
2. I’m not a full-time author, just an office worker with one day off a week, writing the story I want to read. You don’t need to tell me if you drop it. Life is hard enough already! Everyone understands characters differently, so please don’t take things too far. If you don’t like it, just click away.
Theme: Firm belief can overcome anything.
