General Heinsis is obsessed with all things noble and pure.
Born at the pinnacle of the empire, he has immense power and lacks nothing in bloodline or strength. So arrogant that he cannot tolerate anything inferior intruding on his domain, he is ruthless and violent enough to make anyone tremble.
In his eyes, low-ranking male insects do not even deserve to live.
The entire empire believes that, at worst, he will marry a male insect of the most illustrious lineage, proud and noble. Even he believes it.
Until one day, the newly arrived major general brings along his recently married male spouse.
He casts a casual glance over...
And freezes.
The male insect is breathtakingly beautiful, yet entirely outside the range of what he would ever choose: a commoner with no surname, a pitifully weak C-rank, pheromones so faint they are nearly undetectable, and the stench of an inferior female insect clinging to him.
The male insect has features like a painting and eyes as gentle as water. Standing quietly before him, he smiles, his dewy eyes curving like crescents. Heinsis almost thinks he is trying to seduce him.
But that gaze slips past his shoulder and settles on the major general behind him.
Hah. What a loving couple. The male insect is warm and bright, the female insect brave and forthright. Together, they are so well matched it hurts to look at them. Surely it won't be long before they have a little one of their own...
If only he had never met him.
"Would you like a little more?" You Lican asks gently, teapot in hand, speaking to his own spouse.
"Mm." A wineglass intrudes at the wrong moment between the intimate partners. Heinsis adopts the air of a host, calmly and greedily drawing You Lican's scent deep into his lungs. His mental energy passes through the table and settles on the two insects' clasped hands beneath it.
Their fingers intertwined, utterly devoted to each other.
He lowers his eyes and drains his glass.
The burning liquor slides down his throat, bringing with it a clammy, sinister restlessness. The one he wants... is naturally his. What does it matter whether he's pure or not? He can take him home, wash him clean, and teach him the rules. But right now, what's important is...
How dare his male insect cheat on him?!!
1. Both leads are sexually inexperienced. The one in the receiving role is very, very, very wicked and obsessive.
2. So much melodrama. So much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much.
3. Sang Song is such a riot. Instead of marrying someone he likes, he marries someone I like.
Theme: Power inevitably turns against those who wield it; true love grows from equality.
