The Madeleine Moment

As Ni Wu passed the old park that was about to be renovated, she finally had a sudden little revelation. No wonder she'd felt so restless after hearing Chen Zhiheng had returned to Jiacheng. It turned out she wanted to get back together with him.

She had to come up with a plan.

Ni Wu walked into the park. When she saw the old exercise equipment, its paint peeling but its surfaces worn smooth, she was suddenly seized by an urge to show off her fitness gains. A few minutes later, she was perched on the high horizontal bar, too afraid of heights to climb back down.

Ni Wu sat alone in the deserted park for a long time, until the scent of spicy strips drifted by on the breeze. In an instant, she felt transported back to childhood, sitting here with Chen Zhiheng, eating spicy strips and doing homework.

All right, maybe she didn't want to get back together that badly after all...

But was her Madeleine moment really supposed to be this unromantic?

Ni Wu finally decided to turn around and take a look. There was Chen Zhiheng, holding a packet of spicy strips and gazing up at her, perfectly still.

Long time no see, and he's still such a cool guy. But what's with a man in his twenties carrying spicy strips?

She really wasn't that keen on getting back together, but...

"Uh, could you help me down?"

# A Madeleine moment is the Proust effect: the instant a familiar smell or taste suddenly brings back memories ^ ^

# A couple who almost became brother and sister (broken up) (getting back together?)

Theme: Childhood problems aren't trivial, but they aren't insurmountable either.
