Recently, a group of catfolk moved in near the wolf tribe. The wolves heard that the place where these cats had lived before was overrun by magical beasts, so they decided to send their finest young wolves to guard the cats.

When Yun Xi first met Shu Yao, the ragdoll cat was lying on a tree stump, grooming her fur. Her blue eyes shimmered in the sunlight, and Yun Xi was instantly captivated by the cat's plump little body and silky coat.

Everyone said the catfolk were a haughty race. At first, Yun Xi didn't believe it, but even when she set countless pieces of prey in front of Shu Yao, the beautiful ragdoll cat wouldn't so much as glance at her.

The ragdoll cat was proud, picky about food, and bad-tempered. She mocked Yun Xi for failing to catch impressive prey and for getting injured while out hunting. But late at night, when all was quiet, the cat would secretly creep over to the wolf and gently lick her wounds, using healing magic on her.

During one mission, Yun Xi and Shu Yao found a dying puppy from the dog tribe in a stream. The tiny pup was no bigger than a palm, and the very first thing she did upon opening her eyes was look at Yun Xi and Shu Yao and call out, "Mama~"

The haughty ragdoll cat turned her head and gave a cold snort.

The prim gray wolf picked up the ragdoll cat in her jaws and tossed her onto her back, then grabbed the puppy by the scruff and carried both of them back to camp. The cat, who had always despised the wolf, agreed for the first time to raise the rescued puppy together with her.
