A Confession at Nightfall

Tao Wan's first love began at nineteen and ended at twenty-two.

During the 1,095 days she was with Cen Huailü, she was infatuated, indulged, and extravagant, doing everything that made her happy with him.

But it all came to an abrupt end when Cen's mother openly showed her contempt.

There's no denying she loved Cen Huailü, and only Cen Huailü, but she loved herself more.

When they meet again, she looks at the man beneath the lights, his red-rimmed eyes filling her with thrilled, trembling excitement, and thinks: it's been twice as long since they parted as they were together.

Cen Huailü has always loved Tao Wan far more than he loves himself.

So he carefully schemed to make her want him, then make himself hers forever.

But she says, "Cen Huailü? To me, he's no different from Baibai." Baibai is the dog he gave her.

In the end, she took the dog with her, but not him.

For six whole years, Cen Huailü couldn't find a single trace of Tao Wan.

At last, she reappears. His friends bet on how long he'll be able to hold out before going to see her.

He ignores them. That very night, he waits outside Tao Wan's apartment with a pillow in his arms. "Tao Wan, don't pick Baibai. I'm better at being your dog than he is."

Cen Huailü loves Tao Wan, tirelessly, day and night.
