Minister Qingcheng Gets Beaten Up Every Day

1. My name is Sato Meone, and I'm a team manager.

Even though I'm only sixteen this year, I've already got four years of experience as a manager.

It's just that none of the players on any team I've worked with ever acted like normal people.

First there were the freaks on Teiko Middle School's basketball team, who kept breaking basketball hoops.

Then there was the bunch of troublemakers on Hyotei Middle School's tennis team, who turned a friendly match into a sandstorm.

I'm tired, so when I started high school, I decided to stay far away from ball-sport clubs.

I had too many schools to choose from, and my indecisiveness about where to go was kicking in. Just as I was wondering which high school to attend, my childhood friend all the way over in Miyagi Prefecture extended an invitation: "Come to Aoba Johsai."

2. I have two childhood friends at Aoba Johsai. One is the volleyball club captain, and the other is the vice-captain.

Thinking that I'd have two big brothers looking out for me, and that I had experience, I took a shortcut and joined the volleyball club as its manager.

But once I got there, I found that my childhood friend the vice-captain had an imposing presence, while my childhood friend the captain was the club's punching bag.

During matches, everyone would chant "char siu pork, dan dan noodles" and get him to buy them dinner.

My sense of justice flared up. I patted my childhood friend the captain on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, Tetsu. From now on, I'll shield you from wind and rain."

Holding the huge lump on his head that the vice-captain had thumped into him at my instigation, he demanded angrily, "Why don't you tell me where all that wind and rain came from in the first place!"

I looked away. That's none of your business.
