Childhood Friends with the Captain of the Kita Team

1. My name is Higashishimozuki. My parents gave me this name because I was born in November. But I don't like November. It's the season when autumn gives way to winter, cold and bleak, devoid of life. It feels like a desolate wilderness stretching as far as the eye can see, a place that makes you feel there is no hope. But my childhood friend, Xiao Xin, says November is the season to rest and await next year's harvest, a symbol of another kind of hope. Xiao Xin also says, "Shimozuki is a lovely name. I like it a lot." Me: Oh, stop it! (/////) 2. My childhood friend, Xiao Xin, is a very serious person. He's the captain of our school's volleyball team, and he spends every day training and managing the team. Sometimes he says to me, "I'm sorry I don't have much time to spend with you. I keep making you wait." I shake my head. "It's okay! You have your own goals and responsibilities, Xiao Xin. You look your coolest when you're serious. I like you just the way you are." Whenever I say that, Xiao Xin gives me a faint smile and keeps looking at me until my cheeks gradually turn red. I-it's only natural to like your childhood friend, isn't it?!
