That autumn, when Ningji No. 1 High School students were assigned to their academic tracks, Jiang Xian was asked in front of everyone by a boy she'd never met: "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Later, when they became desk mates, Jiang Xian discovered that the culprit was still playing dumb!

One misunderstanding gives rise to a secret mutual crush. One regrets not answering back then, while the other doesn't dare ask again.
Later, Lu Jin accidentally injures his leg. Jiang Xian goes to visit him at the hospital in the name of the whole class, claiming it's a group visit, only for their clueless class monitor to see through her.
Faced with Lu Jin pretending not to hear or understand, Jiang Xian thinks it over and slips him a piece of candy inside a book, praying he'll understand what she means.
Her prayer is answered.
