Synopsis
Wen Jue transmigrated into a melodramatic school novel as the villainous cannon fodder.
The original owner was nasty, rude, overbearing, and spoiled. From the very beginning, he had plotted to split up the main couple, only to end up a pawn that brought them closer.
But Wen Jue had always been an honest, well-behaved good student. He had never been a bad person in his life.
When he learned that he had to follow the plot to make it through the days ahead, he nearly lost it. "How am I supposed to play an evil villain? Anyone online?"
*
No matter what, he still had to complete his tasks. To become a good villain, Wen Jue found a teacher on the school forum. After listening to his request, the teacher told him that a villain had to start by imitating someone.
Wen Jue: "A really bad villain... I know someone like that!"
Teacher: "Who?"
Wen Jue: "Xie Sui. He looks really fierce and unapproachable, don't you think?"
Xie Sui was the biggest villain in the book, a man who would nearly bring down the protagonists' business empire single-handedly in the future. Even at school, Xie Sui was already showing his potential. His entire being radiated a frosty aura, and you could vaguely see the future villain in him.
This time, it took the teacher a long while to reply: ...He's not that bad.
*
When following the plot, Wen Jue waited at the place where the protagonist bottom worked part-time, pretending to give him a hard time. He was waiting for the protagonist top to rush in and face-slap him.
But he was wearing a cute teddy-bear backpack, and his words came out haltingly, like a robot. He not only failed to scare the protagonist, but even got a handful of candy and a gentle word of comfort in return.
Wen Jue clenched the candy wrapper and pretended to stay calm: Relax, relax. There's definitely another way!
Just as Wen Jue was wondering what to do next, Xie Sui happened to pass by. With just a few words, he gave Wen Jue the presence of a proper villain, and Wen Jue's first task was a complete success!
Afterward, Wen Jue reported back to his "teacher" and said admiringly, "He may have a bad attitude, but Xie Sui actually helped me. Is this villains recognizing kindred spirits? Teacher, I'll work hard to become a great villain like him!"
Teacher: "...Which part of that was a compliment?"
The protagonist and his friends were having a get-together. Wen Jue sneaked in and happened to run into Xie Sui.
Wen Jue messaged his "teacher": "I caught Xie Sui sneaking around doing something bad. Should I go help him, or turn around and leave him to it?"
Then Xie Sui picked him up and carried him to his room. Smiling, he took out a thick legal code. "Wen Jue, I've been watching you for a long time. I've always thought you were the kind of person who follows the law to the letter. Would you be interested in studying this book with me?"
Wen Jue was astonished: ...Villains are so impressive. They can go this far just to keep up their act!
Only later did he realize that Xie Sui had been warning him. From then on, whenever Wen Jue planned to do something bad, Xie Sui always showed up at the scene and caught him red-handed.
Was this really the terrifying fiend from the original book? Instead of finding a way to fight the protagonists, he kept arranging to run into Wen Jue. What kind of villain was that?
The more Wen Jue thought about it, the stranger it seemed. At last, one day, he gathered his courage and decided to probe the villain's true motives.
Xie Sui let him sidle up like a little animal, raising an eyebrow as he looked at him. On his wrist was a bracelet identical to the one Wen Jue had given his unseen "teacher."
Wen Jue: "!"
His most trusted friend and the villain were the same person, and he'd said so many bad things about Xie Sui?!
*
Xie Sui's life had been monotonous and dull. Then Wen Jue appeared, like someone had knocked over a paintbox, and his life became interesting.
By the time he realized it, he couldn't let Wen Jue go.
So even though he knew Wen Jue saw him as a "villain," which meant Wen Jue might hate him, Xie Sui still found ways to clear his name and win him over, step by step.
