How to Survive as a Background Character

Xie Qinghe transmigrated into a book, landing inside the unfinished novel he had been writing.

Other authors who transmigrate into their books become the protagonist or the villain, or at the very least an important supporting character. He, on the other hand, became a pure passerby, a background character with a perfunctorily chosen name.

And not even a permanent one.

Of course, as an all-knowing, all-powerful author, Xie Qinghe, also known as “I refuse to believe in fate,” had no intention of following the rules.

But the Heavenly Dao had no intention of letting him off, either.

Whether he tried to use his authorial advantage to disrupt the plot and make himself king, or simply fell in love and wanted a relationship, the moment he did anything that attracted the attention of one of the protagonists, the Heavenly Dao would mercilessly yank him out of the body he was currently using and stuff him into a new background character's body. It would make the whole world forget him and remember only the background character he had shaped into someone who was no longer a background character.

After this happened hundreds and thousands of times, Xie Qinghe gave up.

He chose to never do anything that strayed from the world's intended course again. He diligently and obediently played the part of a background character until the day this unfinished book finally ended.

What he hadn't expected was that even after he chose to lie flat, the Heavenly Dao still wouldn't leave him alone.

For example, to better punish and toy with him, the Heavenly Dao turned him back into himself and made everyone who had forgotten him remember him again.

.

Once he had his own name and appearance back, Xie Qinghe's ordeals truly began.

The Peach Grove Medical Sage, who had inexplicably made him into a new background character, came to him and confessed that he had secretly loved him for a long time.

The leader of the Assassin Alliance, who kissed the first body he'd left behind right in front of him, kidnapped him to rekindle their old romance and fall in love all over again.

The leader of the Demon Cult, who had told him he loved him one moment and then sung a love song to the second body he'd left behind the next, latched onto him, crying that he'd been searching for him all along and begging him to love him.

Forced into this chaotic love triangle, Xie Qinghe could only laugh. “The Heavenly Dao is messing with me.”

.

Though the world had descended into chaos, Xie Qinghe found one solace among the ruined group of protagonists: the Venerable Lord of the Righteous Path, the character he'd spent the most effort shaping. His favorite precious boy didn't cause any trouble at all. He obediently became Xie Qinghe's best friend, stood by him through thick and thin, protected him, and cared for him.

Unfortunately, his precious boy wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and was always making a mess despite his good intentions. As a result, Xie Qinghe, who hadn't even had his first kiss, somehow became the Dao Sect Master's consort.

And it was a marriage decreed by the imperial court, with no room for refusal and no possibility of divorce.

Xie Qinghe: “May I ask what is going on?”

Shao Ran, Dao Sect Master: “Thanks to the Venerable Lord of the Righteous Path for sending me a wife ^ ^”

Shou-centric. Shao Ran, a fox spirit gong who is a clingy tea-green flirt, x Xie Qinghe, a tsundere shou who wants to take things easy but is falling apart every day. The romance is a little slow to heat up. The shou has no name at first; once he gets his name back, he heads straight into the chaotic love triangle. Most of the plot takes place after he regains his name.

Both leads are sexually inexperienced, but the shou develops feelings for other characters, though he never officially gets together with them. One-on-one pairing.
