[Not a very good novel]
The biggest wish in Min Chen's life is to sing in peace, scrape by on welfare, and muddle through to the end of time.
Who could've guessed his old guild would just fold, his equipment would break down more completely than his empty wallet, and, with nowhere else to turn, he'd be scooped up and tossed into the most intimidating voice chat room in the entire scene?
The Famous Family Pavilion.
And its captain, standing at the top of the pyramid, known as "Liuye Zhu."
His mouth runs ahead, and the contract comes chasing after.
Min Chen joins with the attitude that he's just passing through to collect welfare, and obediently takes his punishment.
But, as luck would have it, someone shoves him right in front of Liuye Zhu. "Come on, sing a song for Liuye Zhu."
Min Chen: "..."
The moment he opens his mouth, the livestream room falls silent.
After that, a video quietly goes viral.
"I'm a straight man, Liuye Zhu."
"What do you mean, lovesick husband? We live right across the hall from each other."
"I'm a straight man, Liuye Zhu."
"He got drunk yesterday. I was worried he might feel unwell, so I checked on him."
"I'm a straight man, Liuye Zhu."
The video ends with a pink banner: There are no straight men in voice chat rooms!
In other people's livestream rooms, the top supporter showers gifts without even blinking.
In Min Chen's livestream room, the top supporter is M. Liuye Zhu.
Livestream fans:
[Hi, I'm straight M. Liuye Zhu. This is my laundry, and M. is my pretty flower.]
[Oh my god, Liuye Zhu, are you trying to get yourself killed?]
[Bro, don't you have your own livestream room?]
Sharp-tongued, scheming, clingy seme x jealous uke who'll even pick a fight with himself
- The whole story makes no sense.
My next story, My Deskmate Bullies Me for Being Tongue-Tied, is a school romance. Please add it to your favorites.
Blurb:
When the sophomore class splits up, Ke Shen and his new deskmate, Xu Zhihe, become enemies on the very first day.
He was born unable to speak fluently. Every word has to be ground out of his throat after repeated effort, and he stammers like a broken radio. So he rarely speaks. If he can write, he won't talk; if he can nod, he won't open his mouth.
Xu Zhihe is the exception.
-
Xu Zhihe is a weird kid with a very split personality.
He takes out his unusual eye during PE and lets Ke Shen play with it.
Under the homeroom teacher's orders, he gives Ke Shen all sorts of sentences to practice every day, insisting they be grammatically correct.
When he finally realizes his own feelings, he secretly opens the voice recordings he's been saving for ages and pieces them together into audio clips. He listens to them over and over late at night, then spends the day pretending nothing's going on while trying to coax Ke Shen into saying sentences he's prepared in advance.
All in the name of: "The homeroom teacher said so."
A short excerpt:
1.
Xu Zhihe gave a quiet "Mm," then pulled a stack of printed copies of The Ke Shen Training Manual from under his desk and set them in front of him.
Ke Shen froze. His face turned green, then purple, then every color of the rainbow. When he saw that it was authored by Zhao Xiaosong, his expression went completely blank.
Too angry to speak, he quickly signed: "What is this?"
Xu Zhihe said, "Old Zhao gave it to me. You were asleep, so he asked me to pass it to you."
Ke Shen clicked his tongue and signed in exasperation: "What's it for? What is this training manual?"
Xu Zhihe said, "I don't know. Read it yourself."
Ke Shen said "Oh," then opened the manual. It was full of vocabulary, sentences, classical poems, classical prose, and passages from the Dao De Jing. At the very end, he found a note written in Old Zhao's handwriting.
2.
Most of the students had piles of books in front of them, and of course Ke Shen was no exception.
Xu Zhihe turned his head. "What are you looking at?"
Caught red-handed, Ke Shen answered with unearned confidence, "L-l-l-look, looking..."
Xu Zhihe cut him off. "Fine. Since you called me Uncle, I'll let you look for one class period."
Ke Shen's expression darkened. "Y-y-you want to f-f-fight?"
They start out as desk mates who spar for fun, and end up as a couple in a battle of wits.
Two poor souls find each other and soothe one another's wounds.
Ke Shen, with a speech disorder x Xu Zhihe, blind in his right eye and deaf in his left ear
