[Mastermind] [Protagonist-Centric] [Protagonist with Secret Identities, King of B's] [Secret Identities Never Revealed]
Xi Bai gained the ability to create secret identities using shock points. After explaining everything, the unscrupulous System left him with one last message: [High schoolers are at just the right age to save the world. Do your best, young man!] Then it went into hibernation.
Xi Bai, who had taken a leave of absence from school because of his poor health and was staying at home: What do I do now that I've suddenly become the savior of the world?
Obviously... go all out!
After working hard to build a force of his own, Xi Bai looked back and saw countless people imagining his secret identity characters as beautiful, tragic figures. Meanwhile, they thought he, the real person, was an unscrupulous villain.
Xi Bai refused to accept this.
He crafted the perfect script and built an elaborate stage for humanity.
Night fell, and the play began.
When the truth came to light, everyone cried out:
"I will offer everything I have to my Lord."
The humans he'd saved wailed online.
"My Lord has suffered so much, sob! They must have had their reasons!"
"My heart aches for 'Them,' who risked everything to save us."
"I repent for ever suspecting They were evil..."
"I'm going to cry myself to death. Why is everyone in the Seventh District such a little sob story?"
Watching with satisfaction as everyone cried over the story he'd created, Xi Bai stroked the face of the secret identity beside him and smiled.
"Oh dear, I may have taken it a little too far."
-
The "paranormal" suddenly descended upon this world. As humanity faced extinction, an organization called the "Seventh District" appeared.
The "Healer," with a severe self-destructive streak.
The "Tarot," who burns through their life to bargain with demons.
The "Shadow in the Mirror," imprisoned forever in another world with no way out.
And the "White Bird," cursed so they can never fly high in the sky; the "Mechanical Device," modified so they can never touch their own heart, even in immortality; the "Saintess," who pities the world yet thirsts for blood...
A divine oracle declared:
Never forget the "Seventh District."
With nowhere else to turn, the people of Earth made a wish to the gods in the heavens.
"They" answered the call and came to save the world, all the while murmuring:
"When our Lord returns, we will bind ourselves in chains."
And when that day truly came,
everyone in the world saw those "humans," whose abilities were monstrous, prostrate themselves at "Their" feet.
"We are bound together because of You."
"We beg for Your mercy."
"We will usher in an age that belongs to You..."
Reader Advisories
1. Though the blurb may sound grand, this is really just a mindless story about people over-interpreting the protagonist's secret identities. Please don't expect too much.
2. As he plays them, the protagonist's secret identity characters develop intense, twisted feelings toward him. These may include admiration or hatred. Other characters may have one-sided feelings for the secret identity characters, but there will be no mutual romance. There are no romantic scenes between the secret identity characters and the protagonist, so this story is multi-fandom.
3. The plot is chuuni, the setting is chuuni, and the writing is chuuni. The author is very chuuni by nature, so it's only normal for the story to have bugs and plot holes. The author can't explain them either.
4. The protagonist isn't entirely a good person, and neither are his secret identity characters. Some may even be outright villains. There are no major hidden clues or shocking twists in this story, only fake tragic moments acted out by the protagonist.
5. The protagonist is the mastermind behind the scenes. In the early stages, he only appears when creating secret identities or in some everyday scenes. His role will gradually grow later on, but he still won't appear that often, because this is an ensemble story.
