You Invited Me

Lu Xu first met Gu Sucheng when they were both still wearing split-crotch pants. They could roll around together in a pile of straw.

He babbled excitedly and swung a hand at Gu Sucheng, punching him.

As they grew older, Gu Sucheng became Lu Xu's inseparable friend, his very best friend in the world.

Lu Xu once wanted to take Gu Sucheng and roam the world with their swords. But they never made it to the ends of the earth, and their little friendship boat nearly capsized instead.

Luckily, by a twist of fate in their senior year of high school, they ended up living under the same roof and spent their last year of school together.

-

After they started living together, Lu Xu realized Gu Sucheng seemed to have reverted to his old ways.

Lu Xu: "What are we having for dinner?"

Gu Sucheng: "Go hungry."

Lu Xu: "Where did I put my English book?"

Gu Sucheng: "On my head."

Lu Xu: "Are you dating someone?"

Gu Sucheng: "..."

That very day, Lu Xu packed his things and spent the night making do at an internet cafe. The next day, he avoided Gu Sucheng at school.

Was Gu Sucheng dating him? He had no idea!

Gu Sucheng: "I kissed you, and you didn't refuse."

Lu Xu: "I was asleep! That's called kissing someone without their consent!"

During winter break, Gu Sucheng showed up at his doorstep with his luggage, leaving him unable to bring himself to hide or turn him away.

Lu Xu: Oh no, why is my head so itchy? Is lovesickness contagious?

-

Later, they went their separate ways, far apart. After they broke up, they couldn't be each other's very best friends anymore.

Six years after they parted, his well-dressed ex-boyfriend "fell from the sky." There was none of the awkward entanglement Lu Xu had imagined, only the usual sharp tongue.

Gu Sucheng: "Pay me back."

Lu Xu stared in shock and blurted out, "Are you crazy? You remember ten yuan for this long?"

Gu Sucheng draped his jacket over his arm. "You called me a cheapskate, didn't you? Ten yuan is still money."

But Lu Xu realized he kind of wanted to get back together.

Gu Sucheng: . He is inviting me, isn't he?
