An awkward, unhinged heiress to a wealthy family and a gentle, devoted actress
Mutual pining / a little groveling after the breakup / sweet romance
Su Songyue had been in love with Lin He for years.
That clever, passionate, brave girl had become almost her entire youth.
For Lin He, she entered the entertainment industry and became a popular actress. Then she went to great lengths to trade favors for an agreement and secretly married Lin He.
Sadly, even when their contract marriage expired, Su Songyue still hadn't managed to make Lin He fall for her.
She decided to set herself free, and let Lin He go, too.
On the day they divorced, Su Songyue announced that she would never appear in another production, then vanished at the airport.
She left Lin He with only two sentences:
[I'm sorry for taking up two years of your time.
I'll forget you. I hope everything goes well for you in the future.]
After two months of secluded retreat on Yuhui Mountain, Su Songyue finally let go of all the resentment in her heart.
She turned on her long-unused phone and found 99+ messages from Lin He, hundreds of texts, and over a thousand missed-call notifications.
When she called her best friend to let her know she was safe, her friend hesitated before speaking:
“Lin He is nearly out of her mind looking for you.”
Su Songyue frowned, unable to guess why Lin He was looking for her.
Her friend continued, “She found out four days ago that you were on Yuhui Mountain and went to look for you. Now she's missing.”
It had been raining on Yuhui Mountain for three days. Rain and mist wove together outside the window, and the steps up the mountain were slick, cold, and glistening.
Holding an umbrella, Su Songyue had just stepped out of the courtyard when she saw a drenched, disheveled face.
Lin He could no longer keep herself upright. She stumbled and dropped to one knee in front of the gate. Blood from her forehead mingled with rainwater and dripped from the ends of her soaked hair, making her look just like the stray dog the two of them had once rescued.
Her eyes were bloodshot, and the undiluted affection and madness in them seemed ready to surge out.
Su Songyue instinctively took half a step back, but Lin He clung tightly to the hem of her skirt.
Through the sound of the rain came Lin He's trembling sob:
“Su Songyue, do you still want me?”

Their friends all thought Lin He couldn't stand Su Songyue's relentless pursuit, and that Su Songyue was the last person Lin He would ever want to marry.
No one knew that,
from the first flutter of her heart at school to the soft kiss in a white wedding dress, Lin He's heart had raced for Su Songyue billions of times, too.
The person she most wanted to marry was, in fact, Su Songyue.
