As an adult, Tang Lu uncovered the truth about his past, found his biological parents, and became a lawyer. During that time, he met Yan Nan'an again. They went from friends to lovers whose relationship they could not speak of.
But their love lasted less than a year. That year, the whole truth came out, and Tang Lu's background was exposed to the public. The people who had set it all in motion were Yan Nan'an's adoptive parents.
Tang Lu threatened to kill himself. Xu Nan wanted to hold on to the lover who had already lost all hope, but it was too late. Tang Lu died by suicide on the day his parents passed away, jumping from a building. Years earlier, Xu Nan had saved Tang Lu from a high place. Years later, he had indirectly caused Tang Lu's death. At the same time, the pocket watch shattered.
Overwhelmed by grief, Xu Nan chose to selectively forget, as if Tang Lu had never been part of his life.
