When Qin Shiyi woke, the mirror by the street reflected her headless figure.
She remembered that she had planned a candlelit dinner on the rooftop to celebrate her third wedding anniversary with her husband.
But after she had carefully arranged everything, all that came was her own fall from the rooftop.
When she opened her eyes again, she was still at the place where she had fallen.
Yet, strangely, she had stood back up instead of becoming a corpse.
Crack, crack!
Qin Shiyi set her neck back in place and used a scarf to cover the mark left where it had been severed.
She had no idea what had caused the strange changes in her body.
But since she had been given another chance at life, she would uncover the truth about her death and make the person behind it pay.
Her investigation would begin with her husband, Lou Cheng, who was supposed to meet her that day but had never shown up...
.
Lou Cheng had a wife who loved him very much.
Even though he was usually busy with work and had little time to take care of things at home, only managing to cook his wife a few delicious meals on the weekends to show his affection, she never complained.
Today was their third wedding anniversary.
He had come home early on purpose, bought ingredients, and started cooking well in advance, planning to surprise his wife after her exhausting day at work.
But when the knock came at the door, he was not greeted by her familiar smile. Instead, he heard the news that his wife had jumped to her death.
Lou Cheng couldn't accept the death of the woman he loved.
He made a deal with an evil god, offering what he treasured most in exchange for his wife's return to life.
Crack, crack!
His wife, now a corpse, set her neck back in place and walked into the office building as she always had.
At some point, the moonlight had turned blood-red.
But Lou Cheng didn't care.
He simply watched his wife walk into the office with a satisfied smile, then turned to go home and continue preparing dinner for her.
But...
What did the woman he loved look like again?
.
Qin Shiyi had no trouble getting close to Lou Cheng.
Dying and coming back to life seemed to have given her a new buff, one that made Lou Cheng unable to recognize the face he knew so well he could have perfectly recreated even the patterns in her irises.
The uncanny descended, and the humans who survived banded together for warmth.
Lou Cheng soon noticed that one member of the group kept looking at him with an inscrutable expression.
After catching her deliberately getting close to him one too many times, Lou Cheng finally lost patience and pushed the woman away.
"I'm sorry, but I'm already married."
Lou Cheng showed her the faded photograph in his pendant.
Qin Shiyi glanced at the photo and was very pleased with the one Lou Cheng had chosen. "Your wife is certainly beautiful in that picture. But since she's still smiling, surely that means she approves of what I'm doing now, right?"
