Zhang Xu x Chu Shenglan
Cold, ruthless, unhinged top who likes to toy with people's (and ghosts') hearts x nonhuman Ghost King recipient, split into pieces
Zhang Xu has a beautiful, fair-skinned spouse. Sure, he's a man, he likes eating raw food, and he tends to wake up missing an arm or a leg, but Zhang Xu loves him very much.
One day, his spouse disappears. Zhang Xu loves him so much that he can't bear to live without him, so he quits his job and sets out to find him.
The supernatural descends upon the world. A book called The Book of the Strange hangs over everyone's heads, blotting out the sky, while invisible entities wreak havoc across the globe. A museum holding an exhibition is chosen as the incubator for the A-rank anomaly "Linsheng."
The visitors who are unlucky enough to be chosen are killed or injured. With the help of an official team of paranormal investigators, the survivors finally make it out, only to hear a noise coming from a room containing a sealed, deadly ghost.
Duty-bound to contain it, the team steels itself for certain death and opens the innermost door. But in the ritual circle, still slick with blood, a pale man kneels, clutching a severed hand belonging to a deadly ghost and kissing it over and over. He keeps murmuring:
"Darling, I miss you so much. Wait for me. I'll put you back together soon."
The team: "..."
Great. Another one has gone insane.
Everyone thinks Zhang Xu is crazy. But as time passes, a mysterious legend spreads through the authorities: anyone who enters a haunted domain with Zhang Xu miraculously survives. He's like a protective talisman, guiding humanity out of the darkness.
They trust Zhang Xu and follow him. But on the day the supernatural threat truly erupts, their human savior disappears.
A blood-soaked throne stands like a sword in stone. Zhang Xu, missing for a month, sits upon it with a heap of junk in tow, while every ghost bows to him. The scene is eerie.
Even more despairing, the greatest boss feared by all humanity, the most terrifying entity in this world, codenamed "Abyss of Evil," appears and lovingly kisses the other's fingers and forehead, like lovers reunited after a long separation.
At that moment, all of humanity learns the despairing truth:
The darling their human savior has been pining for is actually the Ghost King!
Cold, ruthless, unhinged top who likes to toy with people's (and ghosts') hearts x nonhuman Ghost King recipient, split into pieces
1. The top isn't human (his identity is a spoiler). His thinking is bizarre, and his only concern is his darling. He still has some morals, and really is humanity's savior.
2. The top and recipient are a couple of ghosts who couldn't care less who sees them.
3. Lovecraftian horror, but not particularly scary. There are survival scenarios, and the recipient often appears as disembodied body parts early on (?)
Theme: Love is steadfast.
