[Includes a man dressing as a woman to play mother, killing others by any means necessary just to rise to the top, taking the place of anyone he can kill.]
Lin Yu's father died, and his mother took him with her when she remarried, finding him a new stepfather who was less than ten years older than him.
Then his mother accidentally drowned, and his stepfather married another woman.
This time, his new stepmother was even younger, only seven years older than him, which made him feel awkward whenever he called her Mom.
Soon after, his stepfather died in a car accident. His stepmother took him with her when she remarried, finding him yet another stepfather.
This new stepfather was only three years older than him.
Then his stepmother died too.
His new stepfather found another stepmother, who was actually the same age as him.
Then his new stepfather died too.
Lin Yu: "...What?"
Are they going to find another one?
At this rate, my parents will be younger than me!
Am I cursed to kill my parents?
The Four-Person Family is such a low-level instance in the Infinite Game that it barely registers. Even a perfect clear only earns five points, so hardly any players take an interest in it.
But lately, something strange seems to have happened in the instance: an older brother, who had never appeared before, has shown up.
He is so beautiful that words can't describe him, like the most vivid flower blooming on a branch. People can't help wanting to make him their own.
NPCs and players alike rush to get close to him.
But this older brother only shows affection for his little sister and parents. He ignores everyone else, as if they don't exist.
They want him.
They want his attention, his affection, everything he has to give.
If he only cares about his family, then they can become his family.
His little sister is only five, so they can't possibly become his sister. That leaves becoming his "parents."
The players and NPCs will stop at nothing to become his "parents." One moment, they're brothers-in-arms who would trust each other with their lives; the next, one is stabbing the other in the heart.
After all, there can only be one father and one mother.
If one of them doesn't die, how can the other take their place?
Reading Guide:
1. Both leads are devoted only to each other. Please stop asking if they are. I only write couples who are faithful in body and heart.
2. The love interest is still a split personality, and still not a good person.
3. The story takes place in a horror instance, with no household registries or marriage certificates. The family is formed through the rules recognizing its members. When a key family member dies, the rules designate a new member to fill the role required by the instance. There are no ethical issues involved, and these aren't his real parents. The older brother, the protagonist who is the bottom, was also brought in when the instance was upgraded. He is actually a player, but has amnesia and believes he really is the older brother, following the role assigned to him by the instance. Nobody in the instance is related to him in any way, and there are no blood ties or ethical concerns.
Theme: One son can carry on three generations; even after the parents are gone, the son remains.
