Synopsis:
As the Rainbow Pillar, Uchiha Hikaru is one of the Ten Pillars of the Taisho era, second only to Stone Pillar Himejima Gyomei in strength and seniority. She has always served as a stabilizing force in the Demon Slayer Corps:
At the annual peer reviews, she trounces Giyu to take last place, earning an impressive zero percent approval rating. She manages to make everyone, demons included, hate her, while earning a certain adorable Water Pillar's quiet gratitude for the emotional support.
She regularly visits the Water Pillar's estate to "train" him, and takes on the Wind and Serpent Pillars single-handedly. From time to time, she loudly reads out the Pillars' demon-slaying rankings at meetings, showing off her strength and driving everyone to compete like mad. The Love Pillar hangs her head in shame, while Shinobu smiles and thinks about secretly killing her. The toxic competition she inspires leads to a bad trend in the Corps, tripling the training load for everyone, top to bottom.
Then one day, this woman passes through Asakusa, runs into the lone Muzan, and comes back as a demon.
The Pillars: Well, look who's fallen into our hands.
At the meeting to judge the Rainbow Pillar, Shinobu reads a heartfelt eulogy, remembering all the good and bad deeds of her life.
Uchiha Hikaru: ? The writing is gorgeous, and I'm very pleased, but I'm not dead yet!
Serpent Pillar: Rest in peace.
Wind Pillar Sanemi Shinazugawa: Should we take your head with the Fourth Form: Rising Dust Storm, or the Fifth Form: Cold Autumn Mountain Wind? Die!
Giyu Tomioka quietly raises his hand: Wait, I know the Eleventh Form: Dead Calm. I can make Uchiha die painlessly...
Anyway, after a chaotic struggle, Uchiha Hikaru is confirmed to be allowed to live at the dangerous Pillars' meeting. She continues to shoulder her duties as a Pillar and atone for her crimes, on the condition that the other Pillars take turns carrying the box she's in and keeping watch over her day and night.
The Pillars: Who exactly is being punished here?
Giyu Tomioka's turn:
"Tomioka, keep up!"
"Tomioka, you're too slow. Tonight we're going to cut down every Lower Rank demon before dawn! Are you listening?"
After one night, the Water Pillar pitches forward like a dazed fish and closes his eyes in peace.
"Who said you could rest? I can sense demons up ahead. Hurry up and carry me onward. I've already crawled into the box!"
Tanjiro, carrying his sister up ahead, turns around, wide-eyed.jpg.
Tanjiro: Lord Rainbow Pillar, please stop bullying my master--
The Wind and Serpent Pillars' turn:
"Both of you, come at me together!"
"?"
"If you can't beat me, how are you supposed to defeat the Upper Ranks, you two scrubs?"
"Iguro, I regret this. Let's kill her."
"Kaburamaru and I agree."
"Hey, hey, wait! Corps regulations say you can't kill your teammates!"
The Love Pillar's turn:
Uchiha Hikaru clings tightly to the box door, struggling against the Love Pillar outside.
Kanroji's sweet voice coaxes her: "Uchiha~ Come out. I really need you to help me figure out whether Iguro likes me~"
The Love Pillar fretfully plucks petals: "He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me..."
"Give me the flower."
"Oh, okay. Ah, why did you eat it? You poor thing, you must be starving..."
Uchiha grits her teeth: "I mean, if Iguro doesn't confess to you soon, he'll end up just like that flower!"
"Huh?"
The CP is undecided, possibly a Giyu-Sanemi love triangle, with grown-up Tokito joining the fray too.
There will be Iguro and Kanroji romance.
The author loves the whole cast and likes every Pillar.
