Devoted, gorgeous phoenix top x reborn, amnesiac, easygoing bottom
Faux age gap
A story about a layabout stumbling into the imperial household, discovering that he himself embodies the very word "authority," and being won over by a beloved beauty.
Everyone else's golden finger is so powerful, but Yan Ning's is utterly useless.
He can make plants wither. What kind of superpower is that? Yan Ning not only has to keep himself from harming flowers and plants, but also has to go hungry to save money.
Then one day, Yan Ning spots Pingyao beef at a blood donation bus and eagerly goes to donate blood. Somehow, a man claiming to be a butler takes him to the Ji family's biggest mansion, by Yaochi Lake in Ningdu. Before he knows it, Yan Ning has even become the director of some obscure agency.
The layabout has finally made it~
Until he meets a demonically beautiful man who grabs his hand and calls him "Master."
Does this thousand-year-old tree spirit know him?
Later, Yan Ning discovers...
Being a director isn't easy. Somehow, a layabout like him has taken on the job of leveling up and battling monsters.
That beauty is impossible to placate. He must have committed terrible sins in his past life for such a powerful old monster to remain obsessed with him and refuse to let him go, even after death.
Even his useless ability has become uncontrollable. No one told him that the things he can counter would expand from plants to every ability-bearing species.
Yan Ning: What do I do now that I'm suddenly way too powerful?
Ji Zhao: Still nowhere near enough...
As they level up and battle monsters, Yan Ning and Ji Zhao pursue the truth relentlessly, finally uncovering the villain's ultimate goal: resurrecting an ancient fiend!
One moment, Yan Ning says, "We have to stop him!"
The next, Yan Ning says, "Wait, who is this ancient fiend? Me?!"
Strange events keep unfolding, and the ancient fiend someone is trying to resurrect turns out to be Yan Ning himself. Even the tree spirit by his side transforms into the little cinnabar bird who used to cuddle up to him thousands of years ago.
Yan Ning seems to remember that he was the one who named the little bird: Zhaozhao.
In both this life and his past one, he has always hoped that Zhaozhao would get everything he wished for.
Unfortunately, Ji Zhao wants only one person, and his wish never comes true.
P.S.
1. A little angst makes the romance sweeter, but a 1v1 happy ending is non-negotiable~
2. The top first appears as a tree spirit, but is actually an ancient cinnabar bird.
3. The bottom is the same person in both lives. There's no reincarnation or rebirth involved.
4. After his ability awakens, the bottom is incredibly powerful. Once his memories return, he's on a whole other level.
Theme: Cherish the person by your side.
