When she wakes up, there's a talking System in her head.
A rebirth with a System built in? She's familiar with this!
Wu Mengzhen asks excitedly, "So, am I dead?"
The System reassures her, "Don't be afraid, Host. You're not dead yet."
Wu Mengzhen: "Oh."
The System: ...?
What was with that disappointed tone?
The System sets its confusion aside for now and begins introducing itself to its Host, whose mental state is a mystery.
"Hello, Host. I'm Subsystem No. 712 of the Correction System, responsible for managing your correction process from now on. Would you like to change my default settings?"
Wu Mengzhen: "I don't care about that. I just want to know what correction means. And what does managing the process mean?"
"Correction covers past mistakes, things you regret, things you wanted to do but never got the chance to, and generally anything you would want to change after returning to the past. I'll assist you with the correction process and offer suggestions. Of course, you don't have to take them. If the results aren't what you expected, you can choose to correct things again. That's what process management means."
Wu Mengzhen: "Wait. Are you saying I went back to the past with a System, but I have tasks to complete? And if I don't do them well, I have to start over?"
The System hesitates. "In a manner of speaking... yes."
Wu Mengzhen: "Get out of my head."
"So not only do I have to keep redoing and archiving everything until I get a perfect correction, but you also record the whole process and let other people judge it?"
The System doesn't dare make a sound. Luckily, it doesn't need to breathe either. "Yes, Host."
"Get your main System to talk to me."
Luckily, the System doesn't have a scalp either. "I'm afraid I can't, Host."
"Then I'm done." But with the correction task unfinished, that was just an empty threat.
Wu Mengzhen is utterly crushed: I've been set up by the System!
Reader warnings:
1. The female lead isn't perfect. She has plenty of flaws, and a particularly bad temper.
2. Since most of the story takes place at school, there are lots of male supporting characters. None of them will steal the female lead's spotlight. They're not worthy.
3. I can't think of anything else for now. I'll leave it at that.
Theme: Speak up. Go bang your head against a wall. Even if your voice gives out and you end up bloodied.
