Grant's Family Inn

*

“My dear Grant,

I’m so glad to see you again.

I’m old now, and it’s time for me to enjoy one last, brief journey. So I have a favor to ask of you.

I have a lovely family inn in Stuart, full of noisy tenants.

If you’re willing, it’s yours. Please take good care of it for me.

Your uncle, Benjamin”

After receiving the letter, Grant set off for the inn he was about to inherit.

Old-fashioned and run-down, like an elderly man in his twilight years.

That was his first impression of the inn.

The long-term tenants inside were even stranger, one after another: a priest who only appeared in the dead of night, an alchemist who set off explosions on a regular basis, a fortune-teller who predicted the future at all hours of the day...

Grant took a deep breath. Becoming a capable landlord would be no easy task.

Cooking delicious meals, cleaning, collecting the mail, repairing furniture... These chores were more than enough to keep him spinning.

With money tight, Grant had no choice but to budget carefully and save every penny. He tried growing vegetables, raising chickens, and making handicrafts.

Fortunately, after living with the strange tenants for a while, he began to find them rather endearing. Take the kind and gentle priest, for example.

The priest’s blessings brought him half a day of good luck. Their gentle conversations made his heart leap, and sometimes, when the priest came home late, they would have a midnight snack together...

One night, Grant had prepared a snack and was waiting for the priest to come home late, when he caught the smell of blood on the priest’s sleeve.

“Mr. Klein, are you hurt?”

“Don’t worry, Grant. I came across an injured puppy and got some blood on my sleeve while bandaging it.” The priest smiled gently.

A bloodstained blade was tucked safely away in his sleeve.

Shh, who in this house doesn’t have a little secret?
