David is a born-and-raised Gothamite from the bottom of the ladder. He's utterly ordinary, nothing special, with a missing dad and a mom whose nerves are always frayed.
When his mother was hospitalized after an attempt to evolve beyond the need for sleep went wrong, David decided to haul bricks to cover her medical bills.
But after a week of backbreaking work, he learned that a quarter of his wages went to taxes, and half of what remained went to the foreman. Of his $1,000 paycheck, he took home only $375. The extent of the misery was hard to put into words.
Even worse, the construction site shut down after a supervillain attack.
With no other choice, David took his fellow bricklayer's advice: find a boss and join up. He could coast along and collect a paycheck, wearing a mask and carrying a knife at the edge of the crowd. He'd get twenty bucks every time he showed up for a gang fight as an NPC.
That sounded pretty miserable too, maybe even worse than hauling bricks.
But David went anyway.
After all, even delivering food required a car. He could get one first and figure out the rest later.
But why was his first job kidnapping the young master of the Wayne family?
Aah!!! Red Robin hits so hard!!!
WTF!! Where did my Wayne heir go?!
The boss didn't blame them for failing the job. After all, Red Robin had beaten him up too.
The boss ended up in the hospital as well.
His bricklaying buddy took him to join another boss.
This time was different. This time they were kidnapping the head of the Wayne family.
Why is the Wayne heir still in the car?!
Where's my huge target?!
Aah!!! Red Robin hits so hard!!!
WTF!! Where did my Wayne heir go?!
The new boss ended up in the hospital too.
His bricklaying buddy took him to join yet another new boss.
David: ...Are you some kind of Minion determined to find your destined BOSS?
This time, the job was to steal the Wayne Group's research.
Why is the Wayne heir still at the office in the middle of the night?!
Heavens, you've got so much energy. Why not come haul bricks with me?
With no other option, David quickly tied up the Wayne heir.
Wayne heir: ?
Wayne heir: “You can call me Tim.”
David: ...
“You have a nice smile.”
Wayne heir: “I thought you remembered that Red Robin hits really hard.”
David: “I also remember he has a really fast motorcycle!”
Never mind whether Red Robin hits hard. David needed to figure out how to get that motorcycle and use it to deliver food!
And so he started delivering food.
Why was his first delivery for Wayne Group too?
Why was his first delivery to the Wayne heir too?
Tim: “That was fast. Is the bike Red Robin's?”
David: “It's mine now.”
Tim: “Are you scouting the place before kidnapping me again?”
David: “I don't need to scout before kidnapping you.”
But David wasn't going to kidnap this guy again. Every time he did, Red Robin showed up.
What if Red Robin beat him up and took the bike back?
Tim (smiling): “That'd be impressive. But you don't have to kidnap me for Red Robin to show up and beat people up.”
A villainous nobody who thinks he's an ordinary Gothamite from the bottom of the ladder, but is secretly a total lunatic living in his own world and not caring whether other people live or die x The Wayne heir, who can only accept his fate and study this strange life-form after being kidnapped again and again, no matter how many times he gets beaten up

The protagonist is pretty unhinged, and much more proactive than the blurb makes him seem. He doesn't just drift along with life.
Theme: Take charge of the rhythm of your own life.
