After Confessing to My Former Boss

Bittersweet | Reunited After a Breakup | Testing and Tension | Proud, Jealous King x Flirtatious, Timid Softie

-

Her ex is now her boss. Jiang Mian mistakenly thinks Zhou Yanchuan is working her to the bone because he still resents her for dumping him all those years ago.

To keep her job, she makes a risky move and pretends to confess her feelings to him.

She never expected him not only to press her at every turn, but to act so strangely:

She shakily warns him not to lead her on. He leans in close, his breath scorching as he asks, "Then when you confessed to me, that wasn't leading me on?"

She puts a shrimp on a male coworker's plate. Without changing expression, he takes the whole platter and empties every last shrimp into his own bowl.

When she asks why, he says, "Am I not allowed to like shrimp?"

Haunted by being dumped, Zhou Yanchuan tests Jiang Mian in every way he can. Just as he finally confirms her feelings, he hears her say the same words she said five years ago: "We're not right for each other."

He pins her against the door, eyes red as he demands, "Jiang Mian, you dumped me five years ago and toyed with me five years later. What am I to you, exactly?"
