The Interstellar Top Mecha Pilot

Ye Qian stepped into empty air on her way home from work and found herself transported to the interstellar age as an orphan.

After years of struggling, she finally talked her way into a military academy with nothing but her silver tongue.

The good news: She got in.

The bad news: She couldn't make heads or tails of mecha, and the person she'd bluffed last time believed her so completely that they planned to send her to compete on the academy team.

Ye Qian felt her scalp go numb.

She studied day and night until she was dazed and limp in front of a mecha. "Heavens, what's wrong with this mecha? Can't you just tell me?!"

Just as she'd made peace with surviving by scavenging for garbage, a voice suddenly rang out.

The mecha in front of her had actually spoken, polite and courteous. "Hello. I hope this isn't too forward, but my left shoulder feels a little uncomfortable. Could I trouble you to take a look?"

Ye Qian listened carefully three times. Once she was sure the mecha really had spoken, and that she seemed to be the only one who could hear it, her eyes lit up and her face broke into a delighted grin.

"No trouble at all! I'll take a look and see how to fix you right now!"

Heavens, you're actually pretty decent.

At the competition venue, everyone witnessed an astonishing sight.

Facing two immobile mecha, Ye Qian took one look and reached a verdict. "One mecha has a worn forearm that needs maintenance. The other is thirsty... I mean, it needs lubricant, preferably that newly released blueberry-scented kind."

No matter how battered a mecha was, she could make it shine again.

Much later, Ye Qian stood on the award podium.

At last, someone asked the question everyone had been wondering about: "Ye Qian, how can you tell what's wrong with a mecha at a single glance?"

Ye Qian lowered her head and wiped at a nonexistent tear, her voice full of emotion and feeling. "Many people might think it's luck or talent, but I have to set the record straight. It's entirely thanks to more than a decade of diligent study..."
