Ke Hui was the first character created by comic artist Liang Tingmin. For years, he had practically no coworkers, appeared in nine works, and worked year-round. Every day, he woke up to change countless hairstyles and wear outfits in wildly different styles as he played one character after another.
After enduring it for long enough, Ke Hui finally visited his creator in a dream. "If you draw me with the same face and make me play all these roles again, I'm coming to demand an explanation."
Unexpectedly, Liang Tingmin put down his pen and didn't draw another comic for six months.

In the world of comics, a world only remains intact as long as its creator doesn't abandon it.
Now, it seemed the comic had been cut short.
For the sake of the strawberries he'd just planted, Ke Hui decided to go to the real world and find Liang Tingmin.
The good news was that Liang Tingmin was still alive and could still draw. The bad news was that Ke Hui couldn't return to the world of comics until the story was finished.
-
The day after Liang Tingmin decided to take classes to improve his drawing skills, he had an accident right outside his home. He survived, but his right hand took a direct hit and was fractured.
Forced into a vacation, he was truly taking it easy.
The only headache was his new housemate. The newcomer was arrogant and looked down on everyone, and was especially hard on him.
Liang Tingmin had no idea what he'd done to upset his new housemate.
Until one day, Ke Hui picked up a page of comic art that had been blown away by the wind and said quietly, "So this is what I look like in your drawings."
-
#Breaking: Is my housemate a character who's escaped from the world of my comic?
#What's it like to finish drawing a new scene every day, only to have your own character criticize it frame by frame?
It took Liang Tingmin a long time to accept that the wall between dimensions had been broken.
He'd thought the world couldn't get any more surreal, but it turned out Ke Hui couldn't return to his own world because Liang Tingmin had gone on hiatus six months earlier!
To get Ke Hui back to his own world, the unemployed Liang Tingmin had no choice but to take his pages around to publishers and try to get the comic serialized and finished as soon as possible, so he could finally send this living ancestor home.
-
Just as the comic was coming back to life and nearing its finale, the lead artist suddenly took leave and paused updates.
The editor called Liang Tingmin to ask what terrible illness had struck him this time.
Liang Tingmin: "I'm looking for romance inspiration with my protagonist."
The editor kindly asked, "Do you need me to help you find a doctor?"
Liang Tingmin: "..."
I'm not sick!
Comics always have endings, but Liang Tingmin didn't want Ke Hui to leave.
