A Makeshift Crew [Crime Investigation]

Pei Zheng, captain of Tanzhou City's Homicide Investigation Team One, was facing the most humiliating moment of his career.

His people had left one by one: retirement, maternity leave, transfers. In just six months, he was left with no team at all.

Then an official notice arrived from the bureau: Team One's post was being eliminated, and he was being transferred to Team Two.

Become second-in-command to his rival? Pei Zheng would rather quit.

Determined to keep Team One, he went all out, hunting for recruits in every corner of the city bureau. Before long, he had cobbled together a team that looked ridiculous by any measure.

The shut-in in the archives who spent all day staring at his computer without saying a word: Cui Cheng

The veteran from the logistics center who drank tea, read the paper, and waited to retire: Yu Xingqiu

The rich girl who drove a luxury car to the office: Wen Yiyi

The rookie who was all enthusiasm and no experience: Lu Changqing

Pei Zheng dragged this band of "misfits" straight into frontline criminal investigations.

But no one expected that as soon as they took on their first case, Pei Zheng would sense something was off...

It seemed none of these people was ordinary. Every one of them had a special skill he had never anticipated.

Only then did Pei Zheng belatedly realize that he, the captain, might be the least professional member of the whole team.
