After Reincarnating in Another World, I Pretend to Be a Master at the Magic Academy

You transmigrate. The good news is that you're a Taoist priest. People believe in this sort of thing in both ancient and modern times, so you won't go hungry.

The bad news is that you're an illiterate Taoist priest who doesn't speak foreign languages.

The first time you see someone with blond hair, blue eyes, and pointy ears, you know you're in trouble.

The second time you see a birdman with wings who can fly, you know things are getting bad.

The third time you see someone with horns growing from their head, who occasionally gives off a strange glow, you know you're done for.

Wait, where the heck did you end up? (Dragging a snakeskin sack around, looking bewildered.jpg)

A strange new student enrolled at the magic academy this year. According to his roommate, he hadn't said a word in the two weeks since the semester began. Every so often, he would wave some bizarre bones around, apparently trying to tell the future. He also often made strange gestures at the air. A lot of people bet that the academy would expel him outright.

One month into the semester, the strange, mute new student was speaking fluent Eastern Continent Common and making a fortune telling fortunes with bones.

Three months in, the strange new student started avoiding people. He was too popular to keep up with all the requests, so he now only did one reading a day, and only for those destined to meet him.

By the fifth month, the strange new student had become the top wizard in their year.

Roommate: ???

1. It's written as fortune-telling but is actually a superpower. He's highly intuitive, and waves bones around and makes strange gestures to get inspiration.

2. His cheat is that he really can summon the dead (although this is a magic-world setting where people don't believe the dead exist. There is no reincarnation after death. Resurrection magic does exist, but the resurrected have no souls).
