Hoping for the Clouds to Return

For so long, he waited. One imperial decree ordered him to marry into the northern kingdom. Their hearts were worlds apart. He would not return, and was willing to give everything up for his beloved.

"Come with me, for my sake."

Unexpectedly, unable to bear leaving him, he could not bring himself to abandon his promise. He sent his beloved off to be married, severed their ties, yet kept his heart devoted.

"Your Highness! You're overthinking this. I only want to serve my country. I have no other thoughts!"

Watching from afar, he yearned for three years. At last, his heart's wish came true. He remained loyal to his beloved, never forgetting, even risking his life to protect them.

"I know that making you marry me is an insult to your pride, but I still can't let you go. I only ask that you give me a chance."

Alone, he gazed upon his empire and grand ambitions. He had no interest in court politics, only in loving and staying by his beloved's side. A vain hope, with the land stained in blood.

With a tranquil heart, love severed and affection ended, he thought no more of the one he had left behind.

With a tranquil heart, unable to let go, he received only a letter of divorce in return.

Gazing into the boundless sky, the bird does not return, the clouds do not return. Where is home?
