A Global Hiking Tour with a Literary Master

Yuri was a transmigrator, but his transmigration was a little different from everyone else's.

Other people got a System that assigned them tasks like earning someone's affection. On Yuri's first day transmigrating while cosplaying Verlaine, his System gave him a hell-level mission: walk around the world.

Yuri: ...Wasn't I transmigrating as a cosplay character? Wasn't I cosplaying Verlaine?! Shouldn't the mission be to win over Rimbaud or change Verlaine's tragic ending or something? Why do I have to walk around the world?

System: Beep! You have three days left to live. Please set out as soon as possible to earn a new life!

To stay alive, Yuri was forced to embark on a journey around the world. As the System required, he couldn't use any form of transportation. Only after walking all the way around the planet would the restriction be lifted, allowing him to gain a real life in the world of Bungo Stray Dogs.

He transmigrated a century before the main story of Bungo Stray Dogs began, and spent thirty years walking around the world. At last, when he returned to his family home in France, his long journey came to an abrupt end.

System: You are free. From now on, your time is yours to do with as you please.

Yuri: Waaaaah! I never want to walk again! I walked all the way around the planet!!

Yet the journey wasn't over. Just when Yuri thought everything was finished, he set out on a new one. This time, the journey included his cat and dog. The cat was named Paul, and the dog Anna.

Paul Verlaine: About how I suddenly turned into a cat and got a dog mom and a grandpa...

From the late nineteenth-century gold rush in Chile to the United States swept up in civil war, Yuri was a righteous Robin Hood who helped enslaved Black people picking cotton beat up their masters, and a carefree cowboy who drove off bandits and robbers. He walked across the frozen Bering Strait in winter and accomplished countless feats that seemed impossible. This was a great adventure belonging to an ordinary person.

.

A travel story. The main characters are Yuri and Verlaine. Verlaine is a cat in the early part, and their relationship is purely familial, with a healing tone.

Some historical background is drawn from South American history and the American Civil War. Historical events from different periods may be blended together. This isn't a meticulously researched work. I only looked up a little information, and anything that differs from reality is made up.
