The Thief of Time

Jiang Yue meets a man.

He's handsome and well-groomed, mature and wealthy, refined and courteous. He outclasses every other man in Jiang Yue's life.

Her heart flutters under his attention.

She quickly breaks up with her third boyfriend and tries to get closer to him, only to discover that he's a playboy who takes life as a game.

He makes no secret of it. He says money can buy most services in this world.

Then he says, "You're too young, little sister. I'm oily and insincere. I'm not good enough for you."

Shocked and furious, Jiang Yue turns on her heel and walks away.

There are plenty of fish in the sea. Why should I let this ruin my fun?

Until she sees a photo of him. He looks about twenty, sitting shoulder to shoulder with a girl his own age. Incongruously seated between them is a ten-year-old child holding a cake, grinning with a missing front tooth and his eyes closed.

Jiang Yue suddenly remembers a summer night from more than a decade ago

So he had once been that innocent, too.

"I'm scared, because you're young. You're so young, with so many possibilities ahead of you. You probably don't know what ten years means. It means that the same person, someone like me, could stand right in front of you, and you wouldn't recognize him as the same person.

That's the power of time."
