Synopsis

What people see is the hero's calm composure and fearlessness in public, his unyielding determination to fight evil, his graceful manners, confident smile, and formidable strength. What they don't see is the exhaustion he cannot hide after waking from nightmares, the muffled sobs that escape him each night as he struggles out of tender memories, or the vulnerability and disarray he only reveals when no one is around and he can finally take off his mask.

And he, Harry Potter, is just such a hero.

Ten years after the war, Harry uses the Deathly Hallows to sacrifice his soul to the Grim Reaper, finally earning the chance to return to the past.

This time, even if it costs him his life, he will protect the people he holds dear.

Things to know before you dive in:

1. The pairing is with the professor. This should be a process of two deeply wounded people tending to each other's hurts and finding warmth together.

2. This story has a happy ending. No holier-than-thou heroine, no childish characters.

3. This story stays true to the original. No Gryffindor bashing, no headmaster bashing. I'm sorry if that's what you're looking for.

4. This story is now VIP-locked. Reposting is prohibited. If you have already reposted it, please take it down. Thank you for your cooperation.

I read a bit of everything: BG, BL, and gen. Too lazy to write reviews.

Harry Potter Fanfiction I've Read, No Particular Preferences

Every orientation and pairing imaginable, including self-shipping and reversing my own ships. A lot of these I read three or four years ago, so I don't remember anything. I wouldn't really recommend looking here for something to read. I'm worried my picks might traumatize you.

Harry Potter: Snape Fanfiction

Snape-centric fanfiction, featuring original protagonists, Harry, and LVSS. I’ve listed the ones I still remember. Such a shame I can’t give them all five stars.
