The Presumption of Innocence

After leaving the **7 celebration party, Alan Rickman (the actor who played the professor) was walking the streets of London when, after a strange fog rolled in, he bumped into a little boy. The boy looked almost exactly like Daniel (the actor who played Harry) at age eleven and claimed to be Harry Potter. Stranger still, Alan found himself saying, "My name is Severus Snape..." Lately, a certain Huo has been discussing the characters in ** with friends. We all felt that if you put yourself in their shoes, some characters' personalities just don't make sense in many ways. On top of that, the recently released **7 weakened the emotional impact of the professor's death so thoroughly that I found myself propping up my chin and daydreaming: what if Harry (not transmigrated, not reborn, just the original Harry) had fallen for the professor from the very beginning? And so this story was born. To make sure no one accidentally steps on a landmine, here are a few things to note: 1. There will be some hints of VH/DH, but the ending will definitely be SH. 2. This story will mostly not follow the original plot. If you can't resist the urge to scrutinize every detail, you may want to think twice before reading. That said, it won't completely break away from the original, either. Otherwise, I might as well write an original story instead of fanfiction, right? 3. I won't bash old Dumbledore (though I can't promise that my version of "not bashing" means he's completely blameless. This is basically the Dumbledore as I understand him. Feel free to share your own opinions, as long as you don't fly off the handle. We can talk things through), and I won't whitewash Voldemort (though, for the sake of his looks, the real Tom Riddle may make an appearance again). 4. In this story, Harry is a cheerful, patient, and restrained masochist, while the professor is prickly, sharp-tongued, and has a split personality (because he has two souls, after all).
