The Transmigrator and the Immortal

Yu Xin only stopped to rescue a stray cat by the roadside. When he looked up after leaving the animal hospital, he discovered he had transmigrated.

Warlords fought for supremacy, and the people were plunged into misery.

Powerless to defend himself, he thought he was about to die in a dynasty he'd never even heard of when he met a friend.

"What's your name?"

"Qi Chang'an."

Yu Xin thought his friend's parents must have wished for him to enjoy peace and safety for a long time.

Just as he was getting used to life in this era, he woke up one morning and found himself back where he started.

Yu Xin: Was this a joke?

He hadn't even had time to say goodbye to Qi Chang'an!

He still didn't know that, in the years to come, he would lose control of his own time, swept along by the currents of space-time and hurled from one chaotic era to another.

Fortunately, on every transmigration, he would have a friend who had lived for ages by his side.

On one transmigration, Yu Xin didn't find Qi Chang'an. By then, he was already used to being whisked away at the drop of a hat.

Even without his friend's help, he knew how to get settled quickly wherever he ended up.

Then...

He saw a younger version of his friend by the roadside.

The boy was dressed in rags, gaunt and covered in injuries, lying on the shadowy lane beside a tavern, barely alive.

Yu Xin approached. The boy opened his bright, dark eyes and watched him warily.

"Who are you?"

Later, he asked the boy his name.

The boy looked up at him. "I don't have a name. I only remember that my surname is Qi."

"Then how about I give you a name? What do you think of Chang'an?"

The boy said nothing.

But Yu Xin knew that, somewhere in the future, a man named Qi Chang'an was waiting for him.

"Waiting is a silent longing."
