Hua Mingxue is a game character Jin Yu'yang created with her own hands. She has the looks and figure Jin Yu'yang adores, and becomes her favorite heroine.

A body controlled by someone else.

An involuntary surrender.

A virtual reality headset.

Together, they give rise to a hot, lingering kiss in a secluded corner of a palace garden.

And yet it is Hua Mingxue, a character in the game, who seduces her own creator into a cage disguised as love.

Hua Mingxue looks delicate and pitiful, like a pure white flower, but she is actually deeply calculating. Once she enters the palace, she fears she’ll fall victim to others, so she decides to scheme against everyone around her, leaving no one untouched.

She never expected to get stuck at the very first step of her plan.

The night she tries to disfigure herself, she relives the same night over and over.

Worse still, after that night, a deity from some unknown place takes control of her body, and her resentment begins to grow.

The deity uses her body to do as it pleases. When things go too far, Hua Mingxue can no longer endure it. One night, she threatens to kill herself, and that is when she sees the deity descend from the heavens.

A ponytail tied behind her head. Clothes scandalously revealing. She kneels beside Hua Mingxue’s bed, brushing a hand over her face again and again in concern. Her big eyes brim with undisguised worry.

Hua Mingxue smiles, her ambition tightly reined in behind her eyes.

She thinks she knows how to control the deity now.

“I love you. You never have to doubt that.” On countless nights, Jin Yu'yang repeats those words again and again to the lover holding her tightly.

In the countless days that follow, the creator and her devotee trade places and rebuild their bond, until the distinction between them disappears.

The eldest daughter, Gu Pu, is exiled to the snowy mountain for seven days after offending one of the heirs.

The snow woman sweeps her sleeve, and everything is buried.

An avalanche blocks the way, leaving them trapped. Everyone who came with Gu Pu perishes there.

Gu Jiao sees the cold, merciless figure on the mountaintop, and a crazed thought takes root.

If she could have the snow woman, could she seal away everyone who had ever bullied her beneath the snow?

So, as the snow woman sweeps her sleeve at Gu Pu, her tears turn into beads of water and fall to the ground.

Chun lets one person go.

She spares the most beautiful one in the group.

And the one who cries the prettiest.

Seven days later,

Chun transforms into a human woman and knocks on the gates of Gujiabao on a snowy night.

The woman hidden among her many sisters gives Chun an admiring look.

So she’s the faithless one, Chun thinks.

She will kill her.

Seven days soon pass.

But only Gu Pu returns to Gujiabao.

With her comes a beautiful woman who suddenly appears, kind and virtuous.

Her blue eyes are exactly like those of the snow woman in the legend.

Gu Pu, the only one who is not an heir, soon becomes the woman’s betrothed.

As they spend time together, the woman’s eyes flicker between murderous intent and affection.

Gu Pu pretends not to notice, continuing to lure her in with the most innocent demeanor.

Gu Pu knows she is dancing on the edge of a blade.

But so what?

All she has ever wanted is the snow woman’s wholehearted tolerance and affection.

She wants the snow woman to keep lowering her guard and crossing her own boundaries for her.

Otherwise, how could she make the snow woman her weapon?

Chun’s murderous intent melts away beneath Gu Pu’s gentle whispers, her soft sobs, and her tearful eyes.

Every night, Chun nearly drowns in the other woman’s seductive trap.

She loves her.

And the other woman loves her too.

Chun thinks she has finally learned what affection between people means.

Before the blade is forged, the bond is broken.

Too much trust and indulgence allow the other woman’s ambition to grow unchecked. By the time Chun realizes Gu Pu has been using her, all their sweet words have turned to bubbles.

Chun can forgive her for breaking their promise, but she cannot forgive the fact that everything, from beginning to end, was a lie.

On a snowy night, Chun leaves Gujiabao for good.

She takes with her the endless snowfall that has blanketed the mountain for three hundred years.

And she takes with her the sincere love Gu Pu had hidden beneath her schemes.
