I've Been Done Being a Foolish Emperor for Years

In my previous life, I was a tyrant whose name would stink for a thousand years.

As for my teacher... Forget it. I don't want to praise him.

As the history books put it:

He was noble and magnanimous, while I was incorrigible.

He poured his heart and soul into his work, while I squandered everything.

He was learned and well-read, while I was nothing but a commoner.

So what if I was a commoner? There was nothing wrong with that.

Resting my chin in my hand, I remember that when I was still a baby, my teacher was already as slender and upright as bamboo and pine.

Then I think that after all these years, I must hate him for three reasons.

He taught me how to govern, yet always liked to thrash me with a bamboo cane.

That's the first.

In front of me and my late father, he once bluntly declared, "This child is unfit to be emperor."

That's the second.

He was gravely ill, yet helped another man raise an army against me.

That's the third.

As he lay dying, I asked my teacher why he had never liked me.

His lips were deathly pale. All he said was, "Your Majesty's violent nature makes peace impossible for the realm."

I was so angry I nearly vomited blood.

From that day on, I secretly vowed to start keeping score.

After being reborn, I decided I would no longer be a tyrant.

I would be kind to everyone in the realm and cruel only to my teacher.

So I locked him deep inside the Jade Tower, chains wrapped around him, his green robes spilling to the floor.

I killed those he looked forward to seeing, a first act of revenge.

I ruined his chastity, a second act of revenge.

I sullied his good name, a third act of revenge.

Didn't he say I could never become a wise ruler?

Then I'll be the only tyrant beneath his green robes.
